Marker Griffon Wobbly Toepieces

Hey NS,

I've had a pair of Marker Griffons for 1 season (60 days on snow) and now I've noticed some (about 1mm) play in each of the toepieces.

I was wondering if there anything I (or a shop) could do to fix this problem. The bindings are held together with rivets so there's nothing I can tighten as far as I know. Would putting epoxy in the gap between the toepiece and baseplate (where the play is occurring) be a decent "ghetto-fix" or is there something else that I can try?

iirc marker put out a fix for that, I would just go to a shop and tell them about it

I've had my griffons for about 3 and a half season now and they started moving like that at the beginning of last season. Nothing has come of it but they are on my rock skis now I don't mind too much

plastic bindings....thats the problem. the play should not effect how the binding functions, it should only be noticeable when you are not clicked in. Don't epoxy. If you are really concerned about the binders releasing then just crank yo DIN up.

Take them to a shop that stocks marker and explain what's going on, preferably a shop which also has a binding release tester so they have a proper idea of how the binding is functioning.

Griffons and Jesters (using that toe pylon design, I think they've changed it in the latest ones) all do this eventually. Basically it's a square peg in a square hole, and over time both the peg and the hole get slightly worn and this creates room for it to pivot.

At first they'll just go "click" from time to time as your boot bounces up and down in the toepiece.

Eventually they'll get worse and worse until, if you take a massive hit on the tails, they'll fold forward enough that your toe pops out vertically. At this point they rapidly get worse.

I've had 2 pairs warrantied for doing this (until I went to FKS and never looked back) - talk nicely to your shop and they should sort you out.

The shop told me that it's no big deal and they wouldn't do anything about it. The worst part is that I had just got another pair of griffons mounted (on my other skis) when I noticed this problem.
