Adjusting the size of my bindings to fit a different size boot

How do I adjust the size of my bindings to fit a different sized boot? Got new boots that are bigger than my old ones and I wanted to adjust the bindings myself rather than pay a shop to fit them

there should be basically a screw head on the back of your heel piece by tightening and loosening it your heel piece will slide back and forth just make sure you put a boot in and that it will release like its supposed to

you should really take it to a shop to ensure it doesnt need to be remounted. that said.

most bindings have a screw on the heel lowest to the track and will move the heel piece. you can move that back . if you have markers, make sure the screw is flush with the housing once you click the boot into the binding (the royal family)

Just take it to a shop. If you have to ask this question chances are you aren't going to know how to make it so the forward pressure is correct. You can easily adjust it so you can fit your boot, but that doesn't mean that the binding is properly set. Don't risk injury and pay $15.

I'm all for safety, but this is really something that every moderately serious skier should learn. Paying a shop 15 bucks for a 30 second adjustment is absurd. Plus, if the kid doesn't know how to adjust bindings he probably isn't dropping 20 foot cliffs or tossing 9s.

There is tons of legitimate info online about how to adjust bindings. Make the adjustment, check the forward pressure and DINs, put on your boots and click in, and then make sure you can twist out.

thought i could do that, skiied 3 feet of pow at alpental, lost ski 3rd run, went real deep, never found it. 4+ hours of looking. forward pressure was all fucked up and even though the din was on 9 it popped off incredibly easily.

take it to a shop yo its basically like insurance because they wont fuck it up. adjusting it yourself is a terrible idea unless you dont plan on doing tricks or you are fine with having a really low din

depending on the binding, you'll either need a phillips head screw driver to adjust a screw in the back, or a flat head screw driver to push/lift a little lever in the back that'll allow the heel to slide. once set, you really need to click in on flat ground and check that your heels will eventually pop out with enough pressure applied, and that you can spin out of the toes with enough of a twisting force, but not so much that you'll tear acl/mcl, etc.

super simple, dude and something every semi-serious skier should be able to do.

it's pretty easy to find the manual for most bindings online, you can set the forward pressure by their instructions, it's not rocket science

Take it to a shop and have them show you how to do it. They should not charge you anything and you will learn how to do it.

it is not a 30 sec adjustment because after we adjust the binding to the boot we have to test the twist and forward lean release settings to ensure it's correct. A simple binding adjustment, done correctly, takes the same amount of time as a mount. At this time we are also inspecting the used bindings to make sure it is safe for the skier.

give us techs some respect, we're just ski bums after all..

That is only really done in the states. Most other places it's a very quick adjustment and a quick test. Takes no more then a minute.

americans love to sue.. we gotta protect our shops and follow that procedure. it takes time and sucks but at least at my shop, you know we've tested your stuff to ensure your safety on the hill!
