depending on the binding, you'll either need a phillips head screw driver to adjust a screw in the back, or a flat head screw driver to push/lift a little lever in the back that'll allow the heel to slide. once set, you really need to click in on flat ground and check that your heels will eventually pop out with enough pressure applied, and that you can spin out of the toes with enough of a twisting force, but not so much that you'll tear acl/mcl, etc.
super simple, dude and something every semi-serious skier should be able to do.
