I say, get back in the kitchen. Ok, I'm not against women, but I have been having issues with girls lately complaining about how they can't get landscaping and construction jobs because they are girls. Then they hit you for something and then get mad if you playfully shove them back. Girls get retial and waiter jobs. Guys will respond better to a girl. Girls don't necessarily respond better to guys. Thats because girls are more extroverts. GUYS AND GIRLS ARE DIFFERENT. So stop wining and accept your role as mother and cleaner and cooker and now you can have a job too, congradulations. But men have their jobs, fixing things, the taxes, etc. Sex-typing will always be around since men and women are different, so get over it.

For centuries women have been identified as being the weaker sex because men have always been seen as having the omnipotent power to do anything except nurturing... which apparently women do better according to our social culture.That is to say that men have been looked at as having the abilities to do pretty much everything better than women.
Alot of times people make gender assumptions such as .... women are bad drivers. women are always good with children. women are neat and tidy and men are slobs. women are manipulative. men are more stoic than women. these are all common myths that are simply generalizations.

where do these assumptions come from? well some people say personal experiences, but they only focus on those in the sex that are doing something that is abnormal or defiant of what is masculine... that is to say men are bad drivers too. other people say that they have read studies or have read articles that verify that women are this or that and men are this or that. MOST psychological articles that you read (before 2002) are studies done on MEN only and then their conclusions are generalized for women. Researchers and societal culture alike have not been valueing women and their experiences.

recently there have been studies in men and women to find out their emotional similarities and the findings were astoudning.... were practically the fucking same! culture teaches the women how to cry at the drop of a hat and for men to buck up and go hit someone.

All those 'generalizations' are true though. Men are slobs, women are better with children, men are more ?stoic?. These generalizations are the result of history and the role niches men and women have adopted. Please stop posting yuor feminist garbage.

men do not get bitchy, bitchy already has feminine connotations associated with it for a reason. Some women are sloppy. But I know 2. Two! out of the mnay I know. All guys are sloppy, well straight ones. Stereotypes are based on facts and true numbers, they don't just come out of nowhere.

where are you getting these facts and numbers anyway? ive read through many psychology journal articles and NONE of them say that there are huge differences in manners between men and women when looking at things more closely and not basing men as a norm. the articles youre reading are rpobably from the seventies. one in particular i can recall is by a man (cannot remember his name right now ill look it up later) who claimed that all women are looking for monogomy and all men want to spread tyheir seed around to every woman they find. im living proof that aint true.

I'm not a feminist. I only ask for respect.
which is a pretty basic thing to ask for. anybody/everybody should be treated fairly. y'know, just some basic JUSTICE.
as far as stereotyping goes, I could say that all males are worthless lazy egotistical etc, and that all they care about (ever) is sex.

I think some of you guys would be a litle offended by that...so just a little respect, I'm glad I'm female.

as I said in another post, women only deserve respect in regards to the quality of their cxooking and cleaning. And men do care a lot abotu sex. Also, men are lazy? WHO BRINGS HOME THE CHEQUES, who pays the bills? You think you're lower paying job is goign to do that? I don't think so. Slobs, yes, but we have women to clean for us, so it's all good.

Ill not try and make this too long. Lets start with the Greek mythology. Its a lot different from the bible. Myth is created by primitive thinkers. Primitive thinkers do not see the world in the way we do. they have no science and they take everything they see at face value. For example, when a primitive thinker looks at the ocean, hears and sees the waves crashing against the shore he doesn’t see water like we do. He sees something that is alive. To him the sea, because it moves, is alive. Thats the best example of how they take things at face value. None of the myth is imagined; it is simply the interpretation of the myth maker. When it rains, a primitive thinker would come to the conclusion that it is because Zeus is physically dumping buckets of water on the earth. So if you look at the myth sounding Pandora and realize that too the primitive thinker, woman was evil and sent as a punishment and that they are only good to take care of you when your old, it shows you exactly how he saw women. Misogynistic ? yes very, but its still the way that these people viewed women.

As for the bible, i dont know as much on the subject. I just know the story its self, but i think that is like the myth in that when you read it you arnt supposed to look for the symbolic qualities. The bible is big enough that it doesn’t need to use symbolism to get its message across. If it was a short story, movie or play, then yes, you would look at it symbolically. So when i see that it was Eve who tempted Adam into eating the apple, thats what happened. The first woman convinced the first man to eat the apple, thus banishing him from the garden of Eden.

^ Justice is such an opinionated term. Justice is different to verious cultures and countries. Some believe eye for an eye, while here we believe in prison sentences and fees. The word justice and it's meaning varies in the eyes of many people.

jd, what does 'preplatonic' mean? its either spelled wrong or not in the dictionary at all... unless it means pre-non sexual but that just deosnt make sence in the context...

And yah, that was the point i was going to make. Justice is such an abstract concept. Even where we say we have justice in our leagal system, it takes cases 10 years to go through court, so justice is far to subjective a thing to ask for from everyone.

but many, many of the things you(skibum_) said about women in this thread are NOT true and are pretty offensive...

I just have to confess that this thread was made spur of the moment just to get a rise out of people. I appologize to all women it offended.
