agreed, its not a issue for everyone. some people only carry 2 or 3 cards.

I personally would rather carry like 3 (license, student i.d., "Coin") and leave the other 10+ gift cards, loyalty cards, credit cards, ect. at home.

If you can't keep track of it/lose it, then you shouldn't have a credit/debit card in the first place i would argue. but i'm pretty sure that if you did, you would still have all your old cards stored away at home just in case you did in fact lose the "coin." so yes, you would have back ups.

if you lose your phone... it says its possible to pair it with a new phone so that answers that.

When I travel, which is a lot, I always bring along multiple payment options (everyone should.) Even when I get Coin, I will continue to bring along multiple payment options while traveling. Because you never know when the card companies are going to deny a payment because of a "fraud alert," or some other type of bullshit.

So while I am not traveling, I think this card will be of good use. I can keep all my other cards at home and only carry this. but again, it's not for everyone. Just thought i'd share :)

no offense taken, I am 20 (young) I have lost a cell phone but that was several years ago. Never a credit card.

lose a wallet full of cards, what a bitch that would be, I probably wouldn't remember what half of them were. Lose a wallet with a coin and you're out the $100 the card cost you, but you still have all your original cards. The lost wallet argument isn't a very good one.

Thats right, plus if you lose the coin you don't have to go a deactivate every card you had in your wallet. it automatically deactivates after a set time limit.

moral of the story:

Don't lose your wallet/become more responsible. Regardless of if you have a coin or not it would suck. It would be much less of a hassle if you have a coin though.

The one question I have that isn't answered yet is, What do the credit card companies think about this?

they may not like their cards being copied and pasted onto another card.

i don't remember the last time i actually swiped and signed for anything with my visa card. its all chip and PIN these days.

If you break your phone, the card will work again once you get a new one. Which for most people is ASAP.

If your phone dies, they say "Yes (it will still work), but you may need to unlock it if the Coin becomes deactivated due to being out of contact with your phone for too long." so if it locks up, you just need to "unlock" it (not sure what that entails) to use it again. same goes for if you don't have your phone with you. It says its a "standalone" device.

Again, its not for the people that only have 6 cards. Its for people who have more than 6 cards or people who don't want to carry around 6 cards.

In the faq's section it says they designed it so that its difficult for the setting to accidentally be switched. but i guess if it did happen you would notice it on the receipt and have the waiter cancel the charge and re-swipe the right one.

That shit can hold multiple cards AND has a mag strip hahahahha.

You can scan cards and not swipe them it's how most card numbers are stolen these days. The thief will get so much bang for his buck if he managed to get close enough to someone with a card like this.

Common misconception.

I got an amax delta card recently and i'd say it work at about 95% of the places I wanna go. Only place that denied me was a local business.


This is a cool idea but the functionality doesn't outweigh the risk/process. Like gus said, if it breaks/get stolen/gets wet/you lose it you're out $100 and if you didn't bring cash or your cards with you, you're fucked. The whole point of this coin thing is to be able to only carry the coin card, so if you're bringing backup cards its fucking pointless.

I used to have a slightly bulky wallet and just changed wallets and I have a very low profile wallet. I have 4 or 5 cards in my wallet and its fine, even having 7-8 cards would be fine too. This is just a gimmicky device that alot of people probably will buy.

It's mainly small local businesses that don't accept it because of the merchant fee's. Its accepted most places.
