Alot of it is by feeling. If you feel a hard spot/knot then you apply a little pressure and move over it slowly. Common spots are necks, shoulders, along the spine, and along the shoulder blades. Alot of the stuff you need to do is tough to explain, my aunt, uncle, and grandma are all massage therapists and taught me alot.

find how how much pressure they want in the massage, and then use that much pressure. Ask them if its alright and they will either tell you how to do it better or tell you what your doing wrong. Never ever put pressure on the spinal chord its self.

i love massages. they feel sooo good. but you can tell the people who really know how to give them, because if your experienced at giving massages, they you their fingers and like do wierd stuff that is actually really retarded, but feels so good. and i hate when people massage in the same spot for a long time... it starts to hurt. you have to move around and include variety. :) now i want a back rub...
