I went to CU but if I had the money and I was "artsy" minded I would have went to CC for sure. Sick school from what I've heard. A lot of talent there. I guess there academic semesters and class scheduling is quite different than traditional universities, you have the same class daily for like 3 weeks and then you switch? But yeah you'll probably meet your future wife there I knew some awesome girls that went

What is your experience at Boulder?

CC does not have a semester system but a Block system. You take one class for 3 1/2 weeks and once you are finished you have like a week off of classes.

I actually ended up transferring to the University of Arizona, not by choice but because my parents moved and I had residency here now. But believe me if I could have stayed I would have.

Boulder is also relatively expensive, especially for living expenses. But if you're considering CC I'd assume funds aren't much of an issue.

It all really comes down to what you want. If you're looking to be more into the social scene, I would say CU by far. If you're looking to rush a fraternity, Boulder is the obvious choice (I doubt CC has a greek program). Greek life sounds super cheesy at first if you've never really been introduced to it, but man I'm a junior now and I still regret not joining all the time. You only get to go to college once and honestly developing yourself socially is a super important part of the process in my opinion...

You also have to consider which school offers the major you want, that should probably be you're #1 factor. If offered at both, CC probably has the better rep for it anyway (that is if its a liberal art and not a hard science or business)

I grew up in Colorado Springs and went to CU. I lived in Boulder for 4 years and i have to say it is a much cooler city than C. Springs. Boulder is a more liberal school, same with Boulder as a town were as Colorado Springs is a more conservative/republican area. The area where CC is has character and is nice but there is not as much to do as in Boulder. There are bars that are close but Downtown Colorado Springs can be sketchy sometimes. You can definitely say Boulder is a better party school and a lot bigger school. Plus Boulder is closer to most ski areas (except Monarch and other southern Resorts) and close to Denver which is, in my opinion, is one of the best cities in America. But it all comes down to what you want to major in. That is what i would base your decision off most of.

I know about a dozen or so folks who went there.

The biggest thing i noticed is that because the student body consists almost exlusivly of extremely wealthy(REAL money) kids, they never have had their outlook on life changed by living with people from outside their demographic. they all have a certain outlook on life that can be offputting at times. It is a kindof entitled, smug outlook.

that said, none are douches and all are generally very nice, well rounded people. Very good school that is respected academically, and has very good alumni connections(and parent connecttions haha) for getting a dream job out of college.

From what ive seen though, it wont really challenge you socially or culturally- though the students are the most well traveled bunch of people ive met(due to having the money to do so).

nope.

its a college that your parents pay a ton for and you come out with a good education and probably a good job. Also the main things you do are smoke weed and ski.

Accidentally posted in the wrong thread about this, but I was wondering what the student body at cc is comprised of. I've heard it's pretty liberal/artsy but I've also heard of it being fairly preppy

I'm starting in a few months. I got accepted Winter Start. I pretty much decided to go to the school based on the academics and its proximity to good skiing. The kids i know there are pretty cool. Looking forward to having an unreal time wtb for a few years, shredding, and making connections to get a great job.

This sums it up pretty well. Kids aren't douchey but a lot of hippy bro-shit.

Girls - no.
Town - sucks.
Skiing - 1:45 to Breck, but you don't have deal with I-70.
Education - good.
Expensive - yes.
Jobs out of school - no. You will have do it on your own, unless you want to stay in CO.
Kids - relatively smart. Ultra white, prep schooly. Hippy. Outdoorsy, and elitist about it.
Boulder - more fun, worse education, better girls/nightlife/scenery. Go to CC - have friends/girl in Boulder.
Denver - shitty
Colorado - fun for short time. Girls - terrible. Bros - prevalent.
Summit County - shitty snow, fun park, shit ton of bros, heavy drinking. girls - no.

If you're from the east coast or mid west it will appear awesome to you, but then again, your life sucked anyway.

CC is a great education, but other than alumni connections a degree from CC isn't really gonna help you land a job. It's a liberal arts college...

I would say if you are just doing an undergrad go somewhere else, but if you want to do grad school some day then CC is probably the best school in Colorado.

My dad went there, he liked it a lot but as he said his History degree from there isn't really worth much in the work force, but he went to grad school immediately after undergrad so yeah.
