Actually pretty cool, only thing is that lock would be worthless is most big cities, especially nyc.

A company out of Canada called Bionx and has been doing this sort of thing for a couple years now. Difference is that it uses a rechargeable motor that amplifies your pedal strokes. Theres no app to use either, all the controls to change the percent of amplification is all on the handle bars. It can also just be used like a moped as well if you feel like not pedaling.
