So I'm graduating this spring and I want to move west. I have spent all my life on the east cost and I have loved every second of it but I think it's time for a change. I will be graduating with an environmental science major and forestry minor. I would really like to get a good job as I have some debt and don't want to waste my education. I'll be heading out there this winter to ski Bachelor for a week and try and see what Oregon is all about. I don't really care where I live in Oregon so I'm just looking for some general advice. I may move out after graduation and take a job as a laborer until I can find a better one. Hook me up with any and all advice you have. I'll return the favor with Karma and if I ever move out and meet any of you beer will be provided. Oh and if you know of any environmental consulting group who's hiring let me know. Again just general advice is cool too. Thanks guys.
It won't be hard trying to find a job in Oregon with an environmental degree... Especially in portland! Were probably the greenest city in America. Just look around and eventually something will show up. If you're an outdoorsy kind of person, you'll love it here. With Mt hood only being an hour and a half away, and the beach being an hour away, Its awesome!!! Good luck, you are going to love it here
Thanks man. I'm highly considering the move. What's the cosy of living libel out there! I'm loving in Burlington VT right now which is insanely expensive, so it can't be much worse than here.
If you love burlington you'll like portland allot, very similar just portland has 500,000 more people. Cost of living isn't terrible in the city, I pay 600 a month in rent and I live right on the MAX (our train system).

Line up the job before you commit to anyplace in Oregon. The economy is getting better but finding a job is tough right out of college. Keep your options open. Most places in Oregon are close enough to a ski area if you have the dough for lifts and transportation. Some of the smaller areas have some of the best terrain.
