I have all Patagonia outerwear, which is gortex, it was almost new when bought, cost me under 230 total for pants and jacket.

Anyone who buys anything at MSRP is a gorby.

Fratagucci is a good one, Tom wallisch is sponsored by north face.....

I was somewhat intrigued until I saw it was a New Belgium beer. Now I will just laugh at the thought of anyone paying for this overpriced swill.

I'd love to try some. That can puts it miles ahead already. Wonder how the beer itself will hold up though. I wonder what kind of flavors they'll choose to embody overpriced designer gear... Probably douche with a hint of lemon and a strong after flavor of pretension.

They are brewing it as a California common, so thats legit in my book. Not to mention, new Belgium is a solid brewery.

Also.. the gucci people mentioned that they wanted cans, and not all that many craft companies are canning beer. (side note: wonder why they didn't go with Sierra Nevada, who does specialty runs, cans, and is from cali. it could be price or simply that the gucci guys have friendly ties with new Belgium.)

Well you can't just say that- tell me why glass is better???

Glass lets light in, which ruins beer.
Glass is much harder to carry around, especially when empty
There is no taste difference contrary to common belief
There's no such thing as a "broken can injury"
Shotgunning from a bottle is lame
Cans are less expensive to produce



Honestly I can't think of a single reason why glass is better.

Cans are far superior to glass for beer, as you have already listed the reasons above, but I have noticed that canned beer tastes way better than bottles beer when comparing the same beer.

One of my favorite breweries only offers 16oz cans.

Well before when I said there's no taste difference I kind of lied, if there is one it's in favor of cans since bottles let light in, which is bad.


I'm LOVING the can craze personally. So much easier to throw in your pack or take on the kayak, etc.

Taking bottles camping, kayaking, hiking - basically any and all rad activities, sucks. You can't crush and compact them when done, and glass breaks.

Cans are awesome. Get with it.

I'll agree that cans are far more practical, and that's probably why they chose cans. But the equipment to bottle beer is far cheaper than the equipment to can it. So that's the main reason smaller breweries tend to bottle. And there are times where breweries insist that their flavor can only be held in bottles. Switchback is a good example of this. With that said, one of my favorite beers only comes in cans......DAT HEADY TOPPER. As you can tell I live in Vermont.....

Truth.

They said they wanted cans because its easier to throw in a pack on a hike or a ski day. Most smaller craft companies (new Belgium isn't small) don't like the up front cost of buying canning equipment when bottling is so damn easy. Plus, bottles make the beer feel colder, even if it isn't technically true.

This is true in most cases...However, the taste of PBR is far more superior in a bottle than a can, plus you can play poker with the bottle caps.

Now don't get me wrong, I have no problem tossing back some PBR's when I'm looking to have a few beers on the cheap, but lets not confuse good tasting beer, with something like PBR.

Also, you may like the bottled PBR more because it keeps the beer colder, longer, and cheap beer at any temperature other than frigid is horrid.

Well I stand corrected and I was wrong. The only reason bottles are better is that I feel cooler drinking out of a bottle. But yeah I'd say you are right.

Hey there, I think your nmissing the mark of why Patagonia is so expensive. Its not a designer label, you are buying a product. All of their gear is carefully crafted to have essentially zero impact on the plants. The are currently mapping all the damns in the US, have put aside millions of acres of preserve, and are conintually using good business practices and sustainability. For 300$ your could buy supreme and effectively contribute to being a real dick. That beer looks awesome though

I understand the value of well-crafted outdoor gear and the price that comes with it, I have my share of great outdoor gear. I just think Patagonia is overpriced to insanity. I wasn't aware of their conservation efforts, which makes the prices more justifiable, it's just that I see it as exactly what you defined it as not-- a designer label. Maybe my estimate is off, I just only ever see asshats who don't use outdoor gear in the outdoors wearing Patagonia gear.

I have to disagree I feel that canned beer doesn't taste as good as bottled beer. With that being said cans are way better for every other reason as stated above. But if I'm chillin at home and want a good beer, glass bottle wins every time.

Whoever said canned beer tastes better than glass is full of it. Beer out of a glass bottle tastes about 10x better. As far as carrying around and if in a party situation. Can all the way.
