Might as well start the first thread with some important discussion: where abouts have you scoped/heard of good terrain? Snowfall?

Personally I'm curious about locations in the Adirondacks because I haven't seen or heard much. Also would like to see if anyone has any experience hitting up Baxter state park or Washington/Presidentials mid winter

I've skied Tucks mid winter, and the snowfields on Mt. Washington are pretty stable (at least comparably to Tucks. I'm interested in Baxter as well, and have done some preliminary research on it. Finally, I'd love to get up into the Chic-Chocs in Quebec. Heard noting but great stories from up there.

has anyone checked out New England Lost Ski Areas Project? www.nelsap.org

I scoped out a few abandoned areas in VT and RI, still some good terrain. I have one specifically picked out to build huge booters, super easy to access and a good pitch, all we need is snow....

I was reading an article in a ski magazine (powder?) that was all about the new backcountry terrain in the adks from landslides during hurrican Irene. Il try and find it.

Irene's a bitch. I had friends in every single one of her "Islands" in VT.... got a memorial tattoo for that shit (covered bridge - VT strong!!) There's a gap underneath it and over 2yrs later I'm still considering tattooing "Fuck You Irene" there. I'd love to ski those slides just to shove it in her face

No, I was looking everywhere for it. On the flipside, I have been reading a lot online lately about slide paths and bowls in the high peaks region. Il post some articles up if anybody wants them. Looks like there are some awesome spots, although the skin into the bottom of the zones are pretty long, like 4-6 miles.
