how do you get to chad's from the bottom of alta?

january 8th - 15th ish me and a few friends are gonna be out in alta. need to know how to get to chads gap from alta base, or whether or not its possible to ski to it.

Basically I was kidding whatever I said before. Its public land, you can go do it whenever you want as long as you get up there and have first dibs. No one is going to beat you up or whatever these people have been saying. Buttttt if you have to come on newschoolers to ask where it is and shit I doubt you have the skills to hit it. Just the way you kids talk makes it seems like you wont be able to clear it, but by all means go ahead and try...I enjoy seeing people eat it off chads.

HAHAH! This territorial business is not as intense as everyone makes it out to be. I called up my homie last night who has frontflipped Chad's (I have access to video of it, in case you are thinking 'bullshit') and I asked him what he thinks about all of this. He said he was up at Wolverine Cirque a couple of weeks ago, and Mack Dawg's crew was up there, and when my homie skied up, they were totally cool to him, and they didn't give him any heat at all. Supposedly, they were stoked to see him hit it.

chads gap hasnt been hit in 4 years for a reason...also video makes gaps look alot smaller. Also the only way you could deffinatly get a hit at chads is if your pro and poor boys or MSP does a shoot

Dude you will hit it but you will not make it across...unless you have like 8 kids digging its going to take you like 5 days to make the jump and inrun....the inrun takes forever to build.

And all you saying 'its powder you cant get hurt', fuck yeah you can. My friend came up short on pyramid last year(which is way shorter and easier than chads) and he broke his legs. Even if it is powder going from 60 mph to 0mph when you hit the wall does strange things to your body.

ShawnM knows what he's talking about. To reitterate:

Marc-Frank Montoya has never hit Chad's gap. He has hit pyramid. The only pro snowboarders that have hit the gap are Travis Rice and Romain di-Marchi to my knowledge. A bunch of kids tried to hit it, but they only cleared it once (almost) even then, it was a straight air and they bailed. The Mack-Dawg hasn't hit the gap in past seasons, I don't know what the hell some of you are talking about. I'm guessing by a lot of replies, most of you don't even know what Mack-Dawg is. Its a snowboarding movie company, and they've been around for a while. I heard rumors Mack-Dawg filming the gap this year, with DCP and some other riders. Might have been just that though, rumors, or they might have already filmed it. I doubt the conditions have been suitable yet though.

Chads gap is huge. Gigantic. Its shaped like a table top... only with no ''top''. That is to say, the landing is only slightly down hill from the take off. From what I hear, the inrun is a bitch.

It didn't seem like anyone gave you good directions to get there. Park at the very end of the upper parking lot above the Albion base. You'll see a really narrow gulch that will probably be all tracked out. Just hike or skin up through the gulch and keep looking at your lefthand side. Pyramid gap is just a little further up the gulch and is easy to spot. Another way is to hike up the cattrack trail through some houses. It winds up the mountainside and gives you a better view of Chad's. Good luck.

i understand completely where the locals are coming from. All it takes is one tourist to hit it and get seriously injured or die and they ruin it for everyone. it happened to us in Adirondack national park two years ago. my dad showed me a spot him and some other locals found to go cliff jumping when they were in high school. we went there every week and jumped down the falls until some stupid kids from new jersey found it in the spring time and all 4 of them died. one of them jumped into the falls and didnt come up so the other 3 jumped in after him and were also killed. now they have a barbed wire 15 foot fence surrounding this place and its always guarded by park patrol. they used to come and watch before and now noone is allowed there. leave chads gap to the locals that know what they're doing. dont risk the chance of ruining it for everyone.

snowboarding is a business. it shouldnt be, but it is. chaining rails and keeping people away from your spots is part of the business.
as for the jokers planning on hitting chads, i say go for it. just make sure there are multiple cameras at different vantage points so we can see the carnage that will almost definately ensue

ok, First off if this guy wants to hit Chad's he can. second off Just so all of u know Mark Frank Montoya hit chads gap about a month or so after Travis Rice and Romain Demarchi. My question for Creedman is if he and his friends think they have the talent to hit it. If they have any doubts what so ever then dont hit it. Chads is technical and much harder than a park hit. If u can do it u have my respect.

When you get to it fallow these steps: First of all (if you have not pissed your pants by then) Youll need a big crew to build the jump and run-in (for all of you that still think MFM is going to come up and beet their ass, a big crew should help solve that problem) then if you still have not pissed your pants drop in then when your leying face down on the wall youl realize why your not sponsered.
