I know what you can do with them, that doesn't mean most people use them for that. Some technology I use, some I don't feel I need. I'm certain not going to go out and buy something just because it's there.

If I want one at some point it's not like I can't get one. But you're right. On my deathbed my biggest regret will be all the years I wasted without a smartphone and what I could have been :(

Same, but times change. Smart phones are the way now, and everyone will have them. Not to mention they have a lot of great applications in education. It's a good thing kids have them imo, they make looking up information easier and quicker.
