Winter car camping!

I search- barred, I couldnt find anything I wanted, even though I know the threads exist. So.... Lets talk about sleeping in the car in the winter!

I actually lived in a Subaru with my boyfriend for a month+ up at Baker a couple winters ago. It fucking sucked, but it was fuckin' awesome too... a really simple lifestyle. I'm trying to gather tips and tricks from other people to make it more comfortable, organized, and easy. It's also going to be just me a lot of the time, too... so I dont have to worry about 2 sets of gear and stuff.

Whats your setup? Heater? How do you food? What about wet gear? What rating of sleeping bag? Air mattress? Give me all the infos.

Sorry for the double post, but having lived in a propane heated tinyhouse, I can tell you when they say propane is wet heat they mean it. Had issues with condensation and stuff doesn't dry nearly as effectively. We got some humidifier pellets and a fan and that really helped, but the straight propane heat creates a sauna like atmosphere. (especially when combined with multiple sweaty ski bums.)

Its a comfy 80 degrees in my apt right now. I would probly rather die than go sleep in my car

Where's the best place to park so you don't get bothered by anyone? There aren't any walmarts or anything at most of the little ski towns in BC and Alberta,so residential the way to go?

I just sleep in the ski area parking lot. Most places around here are fine with that, you just have to make sure you park in the right spot, and if its nuking, be even more careful.

You can camp almost all the way up to marmot, park in that little hiking/cross country ski parking lot.
Boot heaters look amazing.

Don't try the free parkade in banff, pick residential streets out of the way, Louise will let you sleep in the parking lot, you'll also get fantastic parking
