ok so i have recently been thinking about how the comp scene is hucking over style, so what i would like to see the dew tour do is have a style or express yourself session where all the skiiers go down the course and do flat 5 japans hippie slides, nose butter of the knuckles and just ski the way they want to ski and be super styleee, sure these express yourself sessions wouldnt count towards the afp rankings but still a 10 grand prize for the winner of it and the skiers choose their favourite run post it to dew tour.com or wherever and then the community chooses, so do you guys think this is a good idea????
Its a good idea. And its pretty much been done. Look up xgames real snow. Several top bc skiers paired woth top film companies all made edits and they were posted and people voted on the winner. Same with JOSS edits...
This would be really cool. There are some comps like this like Freestyle.ch Style Session. I feel like this is filled by video competitions like Superunkown.
They should have a video contest series, where every round there is a theme and the winner of each round is sent to finals, which is a style competition at a resort.
Not really down with the web comps for xgames but i love superunknown. I think itd be totally rad if they did like what youre saying. a live event on a cool set up. Just something completely unique and original. Not in the same set up as slopestyle setups but like an actual run with everything going naturally with the run.
It's a good idea but the main issue is style its harder to judge. Its easy to say a 1260 beats a 1080. But does a cork 3 safety beat a cork 7 tail if they're lander perfectly? Its all opinion.
yeah like how surfing does it, same course and shit and then the crowd votes, like a face off comp like freeskiier of the year then the crowd makes noise and whoever makes the most noise wins the face off then you do that till you crown a winner so that way super steezy skieers like sean jordan and clayton villa would have a chance

WSI big air 2006 was a mandatory 3, 5 and 7 in the first 3 rounds; pretty sweet.
Or how about a full 6-kicker slopestyle run where riders need to include a 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 10 in their first run then do whatever they want on the second?
The thing is style is so hard to judge. How to compare Jossi to B Dog ? T-Hall and Sammy Inivitationals are probly the closest thing to a style comp you can get.
That would actually be really cool. Probably would be a fairer way to judge a style comp. And I think they did that at JOI one year right, with specific spin amounts, like best 7 or best 5 comp?
This would be a good idea, but it will get to a point where every one would be doing flat 3's and stylish tricks like that would become generic and eventually people would start doing doubles again. Although this would take the course of 5+ years, I don't know if this would be a good plan.
thought quals was open. then it was 5,7,9, open in the finals. AND I thought that Sarah should made a case to make finals against the boys. her cork 9's that night were on point!
blackalicious played and I was staying in the 4 sleasons for FREE.99. good times.
