Looking to get into back country and I have no idea where to start when it comes to packs, probes, shovels, and a beacon. For a pack I'd prefer a avalung just to be safe, but everything else just need some guidance when it comes to things like brands and their quality . Thanks a lot guys.
depending where you are, Avy Level 1 is probably a must. With that comes a beacon (tracker 2s seem to be a go to), and then probe size depends on snow depth in your area. After that, its just user discretion. BCA, BD, Voile, all have great gear.
You can usually get a beacon, shovel and probe pack through BCA or orthovox for 225-300 bones. Check your local shop if its any good otherwise ebay has great deals on the packages.
