To address what a WARRENTY means
I am sick and tired of see poor useless souls on ns bust there brain about warranty this warranty that, and how can you have a 3 year warranty
Let’s start with what is the true definition of a warranty: An assurance by the seller of property that the goods or property are as represented or will be as promised. A guarantee given to the purchaser by a company stating that a product is reliable and free from known defects and the seller will, without charge, repair or replace defective parts within a given time limit and under certain conditions.
NO SKI COMPANY IN THE INDUSTRY WILL WARRENTY WEAR AND TEAR.
I.e. Abuse do to rails/concrete what ever the hell your doing to your skis, regular abuse etc.
By offering a 3 year warranty it does not mean that the ski will be indestructible for 3 years and then fall apart. It means that a company has faith in there product, and that they are willing to stand behind it 100%, which is important as a new company.
Well what does this mean exactly do you ask? It means (especially rider owned companies) are willing to GO OUT OF THERE WAY to help you, if you have a problem with your skis. It doesn’t mean if you beat the shit out of your ski for two years, you can get a new pair. If it breaks in half, the core snaps, the edge rips out the length of the ski. Then hell ya there warranty it. Not hey my top sheet has huge chucks out of it, all my edges are cracked and worn done to nothing, my base as gauges in it, can I have some new skis please? NO if you think that, ya I’ll say it you’re fucking dumb. And if you think ski companies should do that then start out your own ski company and offer that type of warranty and stop complaining.
Well then you ask, why offer 3 years when everyone else is offering 2?
This doesn’t necessarily mean that a company that offers a 3 year warranty is better than a company that offers 2. What it means that is that they trust there skis, and has confidence that they will last. (Which is important for a new company cause there not tested and true yet to the everyday user, only to a select few that have ridden them)
Well if there not going to warranty wear and tear why offer 2-3 years? cause if you ride hard… ya my skis will be in shit shape in three years. It means for example after for riding for two years the glue in the ski isn’t going to degrade into a fine powder, and the ski will denigrate into nothing. It means after 3 years of riding your ski will be in one solid state structurally. Yes the core might be shot, your edges will be almost gone it’ll be all scratched up, dents maybe some base scrapes. But it will still be in one piece and you will be able to turn down the hill with it.
These rider owned companies are going to stand behind there product wither it be a 2 or 3 year warranty and the majority and going to GO OUT OF THERE WAY to help you if you have a warranty issue you would like to addresses with them. This is MY perception of what a warranty is and I believe I am correct and pretty much anyone in the industry will agree with me. If you don’t, then don’t. I hope this will somehow effect how you perceive warranties and realize there not gimmicks to sell you invincible ski, they are there to built skier-company relations and know that the product you are buying is a well made ski, and if you have a problem with it, there going to be there to help you 100%.
