Plastidip

Just thought about this because I was going some parts on my car, but do you guys think it would be possible to plastidip gear?

Like I think you could probably plastidip the shell of a helmet different colors and peel it off and do it another later on. Thoughts?

Well, I wouldn't recommend any of this caused I'd hate to see someone get hurt.

But yeah, you definitely could. Bindings and helmets are probably the worst things you could spray/dip because of how critical they are. Bindings would likely get clogged up inside with overspray and become less functional. Helmets, blah, blah,solvents might eat into it and reduce it's structural integrity.

Shit like pole baskets, pole grips, topsheets, they could all be done pretty easily and come out looking good.

I didnt even think about topsheets. Mine are coming off right now. I might think about it. Its flexible so it might work, I dont know how it would hold up to scratching though.

And I dont think it would really ruin a helmet. Its pretty safe, you can use it on car paint and not have it come off. Also, it doesnt ruin any other plastic you spray with it.

Yeah, I don't think it would hurt it either, more or less just tossing it out there. The spray stuff would be awesome because it would look good but peels off so easy,a nod is still very durably. Topsheets, I could see it adding some weight and it might slice up easy, but it would be a really good sealer.

I've used the stuff on my car a lot- it's awesome. It would definitely work well on a helmet- no danger there. Don't think bindings or top sheets would work well though, too easy for it to peel up with all the contact.

It's pretty smooth

You could do anything that doesn't have moving parts- as in I would never do a pair of bindings but anything else is fair game. Helmets, topsheets, boots, fuck, anything really just be aware that it does peel off and your boots could very well look like shit after one hard run. It's not very durable.


That said, they make a ton of colors, pearl additives, matte and semi glosses, etc. etc. etc. They even do clears now if you just want to protect, say, your NS/J skis special editions or something.

It's also pretty easy to take off if you want to (if you don't mask things properly or overspray gets on something you don't want in very small amounts, it's hard to get that off though). -which is a contradiction to how well it usually sticks to stuff. But yeah try it- if you don't like it or it gets scratched up too much later it'll just peel right off after you dig into it a bit.
