Definitely some good guidance in the thread above. The boot that will ski best is the one that fits, might be FT or Salomon, might not.
Regardless of whether you're on a budget, its overwhelmingly beneficial to see a bootfitter.
However, don't waste their time. If you can't afford to purchase a boot with the company your bootfitter works for, let them know before hand. It is likely they will still be very willing to help.
