Tom- wallisch project, won like everything but big air Torin- became a gangsta, developed amazing style Henrick- landed a fuckin ridiculous nosebutter trip 16 Gus- not sure what he did this year... Tom takes the cake out of these four imo, but if anyone saw mutiny, clayton or mike wilson would win hands down. Some of the hits clayton did were unreal. Also Sean Jordan's part in the movie was insane, you will never see so much tech on urban in your life.

I've been gone for a few weeks so i haven't heard much about this. But how did dale not make it through the first round.

He won 100G, he definitely should be in the finals for skier of the year.

If we are talking about the skier of the year and what the did through the season, I think henrik or Torin should win and thats what I voted.

Also, Maude for the win, I want that ass on the cover.

I think torin should take this one, his skiing is on point and he is much younger and still competing with all the older dudes. Now if we could only take out Gus kenworthy and add Clayton villa/talkington

I think people overemphasize the nose butter triple. Henrik is an incredible skier apart from that, and I hate to see that overlooked.

when i saw that gus beat pep i thought i was going to puke.

when gus beat clayton i actually did puke in my mouth a little.

don't get me wrong, gus is a good skier, but what did he do last year? pep put out a SHITLOAD of mind bottling content, clayton dropped a fucking hammer of an opener and one of the best street segments of the year. did i miss something? did gus win some contests or something?

If Gus wins, I give up on skiing.

If Tom wins, I wouldn't be shocked but I wouldn't be happy.

Basically, I would narrow it down to Henrik or Torin. Torin is super young and it would be rad to see him win something like this, but he will have many opportunities in the next few. The kid's on fire. I'd say Henrik deserves to take it this time around, considering the absolutely massive year he has had.

I'm still butthurt that Pettit, Pep, Talkington and Vila are out.

how about you get the fuck out this whole website is practically based off of opinions thats what these forums are for is to share opinions. Imlach respectfully stated no hate on gus he just doesnt understand why he is even in there. honestly i agree clayton deserved it.

this would be an incredible resume for multiple seasons let alone just one. The fact that he was touring the east/midwest and was still able to drop into contests and blow the roof off is insane. And i know at least Vermont's parks weren't the best training grounds....

Everyone knows this but I find myself emphasising it.. SOTY is a popularity contest by the general public. There really isn't any justifiable reason for any single person to win a matchup, those reasons dont even matter. All that matters is some random person looking at their computer and saying "oh i like this skier more than that one" and TBH gus is more popular in the eye of the general public.

Now if this contest was open only to NS members then ya clayton probably would've won, but the majority of the people who vote for that shit are gapers, nah mean?

Easy cowboy. Nobody is really going to quit skiing over a magazine contest, so unrustle your jimmies. All I was saying is that Gus is already an extremely well-off athlete, and really hasn't done anything to warrant winning SOTY this year. Great skier, but this is a year to year basis thing.

Well, no... you didn't say any of that, like, at all. "If Gus wins, I quit skiing" is a statement about your actions based on the outcome of the contest, not an opinion as to who should win.

I just get bothered when people say things like "this planet sucks, I don't want to be here any more." or "if ____ happens, I quit.", etc...

Pointless exaggerations that just make you look like a child full of angst. I realize you won't actually quit skiing, but than why say it in the first place? It's like when teenagers say "I hate you" to their parents because they wouldn't let them do something that probably doesn't actually matter in the long run. It doesn't do anyone a favour, it's just dumb.


And yes, I do realize that I am going way, WAY, too deep into this, because none of it actually matters. I'm just bored and feel like ranting right now. We can continue on with this debate on a popularity contest now.

In my opinion, I'd like Tom to win because his video was just the bees knees. Did he have a 'better' season than the rest? I don't really care and stopped voting after the first round. I sure ain't gonna lose any sleep over it.

I feel like gus doesnt get as much credit as he deserves because he focuses on competitions more than segments and stuff. Hes #1 in the afp rankings so i dont really understand why people are counting him out on this. Not saying he will win for sure because henrik tom and torin have all had great years too, but it should be close.

I love gus but i dont think he will win, I mean Tom did Wallisch project, Torin took gold at halfpipe in a sick run, and henrik did nose butter tripple. I think that making the decision between the 3 is almost impossible

The fact that Gus beat Clayton Vila is completely ridiculous. Gus was irrelevant this year, while Clayton shot one of the best movie segments of all time. If more people saw mutiny he would have gotten the votes he deserved

It will be Torin or Henrik, everyone loves Torin more than Gus(even the 15 year old girls), Wally is a very good candidate, but he didn't do that much this year, it will still be a close win for Henrik since Tom has a lot of supporters. But id it does come down to Henrik/Torin, I think Henrik will be victorious!

Tom'a movie was dope but I feel like he has hit godfather status, and everyone knows he's good at what he does. He won't get skier of the year because he's already hit that level of skill.
torrin is on the up and comming, he's damn good but hasn't had an impact on the skiing industry like the other two have.
