Look pivot brakes

I picked up a set of Look Pivot bindings (XXL I believe so like 115mm wide). They're a bit wide for my park skis, but probably not a huge deal since boots are wider than the skis anyways. When I dropped them off at Boulder ski deals, I got a call a few days later from one of the managers/shop guys regarding to how fat my brakes are. Said he can swap them out free of charge when they get in bindings with regular size brakes, but that was months ago and I'm sick of waiting.

I know with my PX bindings, I can switch out brakes whenever. Once the Pivots are mounted on the ski, is it too late if I ever decide to switch to skinnier brakes further down the line without removing the binding? I know I can bend them...whatever

and maybe in the slim chance somebody in Denver needs fatter brakes for their Pivots, we can trade

So here is the deal:
You really don't want to have too much difference between brake arms and width underfoot, I believe the max desired is ~10 mm. Rossi/pivots brakes are not really meant to be disassembled by the consumer but that doesn't matter...if you know what you are doing it is fairly simple to do and shops can do it really easily. Once the binding is on the ski you cannot remove the brake without removing the heel, you have to remove the whole heel assembly. It is not really recommended to unmount and remount in the same holes but again can be done especially with a little epoxy to lock em' in, if it is you doing it make sure not to strip the holes. Don't be surprised if a shop doesn't swap brakes for free now or if they charge you for a remount (if they are already mounted) and a binding safety check.

Pivot/FKS brakes are the toughest to swap out or bend. If your shop can do it then great, but as said above you will have to remove the heel to take them out once they're mounted, and even after that you have to remove the baseplate, disassemble the heel, and then put the whole thing back together. It is difficult when learning how to do it but it's actually pretty simple, however it's not the best idea to experiment on your own new bindings
