USA undefeated, do you even care?

USA so far is undefeated in the Rugby League World Cup and are currently at the top of their group. Does anyone on NS actually care or follow at all?

Apparently they booked flights home for after the pool matches as they expected to lose but they are guarranteed a spot in the next round.

They verse scottland soon which will be their toughest game yet.

Rugby league is more of a sport than Murican Football. You should be stoked that the USA league team is doing well in the World Cup seeing it's their first time entering and most of them have other day jobs.

Please, nfl athletes are in a world of their own. Find me a couple linebackers defensive ends Calvin Johnson and a soccer player to kick and us mericans would take a shit all over the rugby world.

Dude it's not league verse nfl for fucksake, you guys are doing well at another sport. I have played gridiron a couple of times, it's totally different. I mean the pads let you hit harder, but it lets you cop alot more aswell.. Rugby league is more endurance than nfl, play is practically non-stop whiclst nfl is more directed to short bursts. Rugby league focus on "jack of all trade" players rather than specialists.

I'd personally be pretty stocked.

Alot of people play rugby union and leauge in the off season.

the fact you said I "soccer player to kick" proves you know nothing about league or even rugby.

But i do agree with what you said about nfl athletes, they are in a league of their own, and they should be. The amount of money invested in them cannot be compared with even the top rugby league players. A $4.4 million slary cap needs to be divided by 25 players to start with. Let alone clubs usually have little money to invest heavily into their players and facilities.

Take any NFL guys and put them on a Rugby pitch, they will get destroyed. Even if you teach them to play the game.. Reason why is because NFL doesn't know how to tackle. NFL players would get run over by Rugby players.

Football you dont arm tackle. Rugby that is the only way to tackle(unless the opponent is "defensless". it is two different techniques used for two different sports. Each could be tought the other sport pretty quickly.

Based on pure numbers, the athlete pool for american football is about 15 times larger. Not to mention that the americas have a disproportionatly large percentage of west africans whom we bred for 200 years to produce the biggest and strongest humans possible. Add to that the fact that ONLY tippy top level soccer leagues have close to the training resources that the NFL has, and it becomes obvious that the level of athelticism in rugby is far inferior to that of the NFL.

and sure its cool that the USA is kicking ass at the world cup. But honestly, rugby is somewhere around the 20th or 30th most popular sport here. Im just happy cause the good ol' USofA is winning yet again.

I wouldn't want to put soccer players on the field with NFL players. I agree with you that they would get destroyed. The mental aspect of the game is where Rugby players would surpass NFL players. I don't think they would be capable of playing the game properly. But I also don't think that Rugby players would be able to be good Football players.

And as for the athlete pool, yes you are correct. NFL is much larger than Rugby, but Rugby is world wide so I think they would be able to pull some athletes that can challenge some of the best in the NFL.

I really would love to see a game played like this, half is a Football game and the other half is Rugby. You put Rugby players against Football players. Would be fun to watch.

How so? QBs are the smartest player on the field. And can you see Manning, Brady, Rodgers, Rivers, Ryan or any pocket passer playing Rugby?

Well, I wouldn't exactly say you're 'doing good'. US has won 2 games against 2 of the worst teams in the league and should be thankful all 3 of their games before the quarters are against shit teams.

If they win in quarters I'll be impressed. But they won't. They're going to be playing Australia no doubt. It's going to be 48-0.

2 of 2 is better than I've seen every time I watch them play. I have mostly seen them play 7s and can't say I have seen them win a match yet.

I was asked to play on the U-20 USA team in HS. Couldn't cause of a shoulder injury. /claim.

I played college football and now play club rugby in the states. There are arguments to be made for both sides. I think theyre just two different sports and I enjoy them both equally! But to answer the reason this thread is made, YES Im super pumped about the Eagles. Cant wait to see what happens in the Olympic 7's also!

it's the tomahawks, USA's Rugby league team, slighty different to union, but they cross over quite a bit and the main objectives of the game are the same. The main difference being a limited tackle count, ie. each team gets 6 tackles to score and then they hand the ball over to the other team (slightly faster pace than union virtually 0 Stops during the game). USA 7's team is actually pretty good, I'd say they are a contender to get in the semi's.
