6'2", 190lbs, DIN 12 for most days, 13-14 for pow

Aggressive freeride style


Basically, I'm looking for a binding that won't fuck itself landing switch in soft snow, but still not be a bear trap on shit days on the frontside. I don't see myself turning up my DINs at all out of fear for my knees.

FKS/Pivot 18s or Jesters are my top candidates at the moment?

I know this topic has been beaten to death but is there anything I'm missing or should I just go buy some Pivots and call it a day?

Your so fuggen cool bro, your DIN is sooooo high you must be sooo good. You must be a pro, because your DIN is the Same or even higher than theirs.

Honestly, I'd just recommend getting FKX/Pivot 18s and calling it a day. STH 16s are the only other thing I'd recommend for a dude your size, even if you don't crank your DINs.

I'm just a relatively tall, kinda chubby guy that likes to ski aggressively in soft snow and provide adequate information in the threads I make.

I'm asking out of lack of personal experiences, all I've ever owned has been PX12/14/18 as well as Griffons and I find the heel release to be inconsistent.

Sorry for buggin, just dont wanna see you blow your knees. Im 6'3 190 not chubby at all, never turn (very aggressive) and huck cliffs 20-30 feet, and ski at 10-11 DIN here in jackson hole... smooth out your landing technique (aka get better), dont up your DIN.

FKS/Pivots are built for unparalleled retention, and they will hold you in at 12 better than a jester/sth set at 12. You can spend an extra 100 bucks if you really want to, But i seriously consider riding no higher than 12 Din, unless your a PRO. Get 14 DIN FKS/Pivot and save your self 100 on bindings, and whatever knee surgery will cost you. Plus the 18 DIN versions have a race toe, with no vertical release, so more knee blowouts.

Chubby being relative (33" waist) haha. My landings are solid straight, it's just spinning down drops and on booters where I am relatively inconsistent. I am unfortunately on some loaner PX12s so not getting past 10 and busting slider plates is the reason I'm in need right now. I don't want to go past 12 for 99% of my days out, I just want something that is actually consistent.

I got a few days on an Atomic Tracker last year and actually became fond of the release, so I found a super cheap set of STH 16s, so that's probably where I'll end up.

I am fortunate enough to get out in a cat/heli a few days a year so that's really the only time my DINs ever left 12 and only on BLOWER days.

does that mean skinny fat? dont wanna get all glittery, but 33 waist at 6'2 is not chubby cheeseburger.

buy some fks 140s for 300, and ill trade you a brand new in box set of fks 180s. or buy my fks 180s for 300 so i can buy fks 140s. thats 100 off retail.

realistically, jester's will perform the best with powder skis. The widest screw pattern(besides possibly the new salomon bindings, correct me if im wrong), the best lateral power transmission, and the best heel release (besides fks). The markers are a superstart in powder because they have features that help them excell in that category. I am not saying that Fks or sollys are bad, but purely performance and features, your best bet is Jester.

should have said that, if your athletic you DIN goes up normally. I thought you were some chubster pretending to ski hard. now i see where your comin from. at your height/weight and athletic 12 is fine.
