Hey guys, I have a question about mounting my bindings.i skied skis last year that were 159s, and this year I'm skiing skis that are 169s. The 159s were mounted 3cm forward. The ones I have this year, the 169s are mounted at 1 cm forward. I want them to skis the same as the 159s, do if I were to mount the 169s at 3 cm forward would they ski the same(feel)? I don't think they will but I'm not sure.
Severe lack of info here. Are they the same skis but in a longer length? Different skis? If they are different skis do you mean forward of the recommended line? If so where is the recommended line in relation to core centre on each of them? What type of skis are they? How much will you be riding switch? How much will you be skiing around the mountain regular?
Good questions, sorry for lack of info. They are different skis. Line masterminds then and k2 recoils now. I mean forward of traditional mount or midsole. They are all mountain/park skis. I ride switch a good amount but not a ton. I ski groomers and park about 50/50
In that case I wouldn't worry too much. Different skis and different length so they're not going to feel the same wherever you mount them - a couple cms isn't suddenly going to replicate the feeling you had on a different pair of skis. Sounds like you've got a good starting point for a mount on the new skis considering you ski 50% groomers and once you get some time on them you can always consider remounting a little further forward if you feel the need further down the line.
Ok, another thing I didn't mention is I have marker griffon bindings, which can be moved forward or back. Right now they are at the farthest they can go, 1 cm forward. So I could have them remounted a centimeter or two forward that way I would be able to adjust them back too and I would also be able to slide them forward so...
But if they're already mounted there's no point remounting them until you spend some time skiing on them as it's all complete guesswork. Spend a decent amount of time on them, get use to how the different ski and the different length feel with your current mount and then reassess further down the line. You're not going to recreate how your old skis felt by blindly remounting skis you haven't spent time on.
