are you missing christmas?

i was just in the local grocery store (yeah shitty ass haggen) for a break from my miserable israeli/palestine conflict paper. as i was pilfering the bulk candy bins and mulling over the apple selections, i noticed the faint sound of christmas music. as i continued 'shopping' the music began to feel louder and louder to me and i began feeling rather festive. tight, christmas is coming...but oh wait, i wont be having christmas this year. no tree, no presents, no lights, no onslaught of rabid consumerism. on christmas morning i will awaken in some little hotel in hanoi, vietnam. i will spend my christmas day on the train to hong gai, so that we can charter a junk so that we can peruse the islands of ha long bay.
now thats not a shitty thing to be doing and at least i'll be with my family, but its not very christmasy. i figure that if you're going to miss christmas (assuming that you celebrate it), its got to be for a fucking good reason. i already had to miss christmas with my family once, two years ago when i was living in jackson...i had a fucking shitty christmas, actually i think it dumped that day - but my point is although it was well worth it, it wasn't very christmasy.
who else is missing christmas and why?

hey me too, im getting dragged out to hawaii over winter break to have a family get together. everyone gets on my ass for saying it, but i dont even like kauai that much, especially during the winter when i miss having 2 weeks of no school and nonstop skiing. Any chance your heading to 'the garden island'?

i'm going for the hell of it...
i'll be in hong kong for 5 days, then meet my mom and brother on the plane to bangkok, hang out there for a while, head north, then to vietnam, go down the coast, then to cambodia to see the angkor ruins for a little bit, then south to ko tao (little island in the gulf)

i will but unfortunately thousands of homepeople dont have a home so at christmas, each week on december i by atleast one homeless person a meal and everybody else should to, instead of giving them money buy them a meal at a fastfood joint or where ever. if you cant do this give lots of food to the food donations at your school.

in 1999 i moved to australia with my family for a little bit and we stopped in hong kong on the way.
we left on dec.24 and went over the international dateline, so i actually MISSED dec 25 altogether. no christmas at all.
but then i had new years (2000) in hong kong. that was cool.

i wish christmas wasnt so commercialized. its like the day after halloween, all the christmas stuff goes up. they forget the reason for the season. the ski season, that is.
