New to SLC

I moved to Salt Lake about two months ago to transfer to the U. I'm a Junior and my major keeps me from taking other classes to meet people outside of it. I joined both ski clubs and have gone to premiers and everything but still not really making any connections of people to ski with or anything. I have my pass for Alta and I'm hoping the season starting up will kick things into gear a bit more. Not great at starting conversations I guess till I know people. Any help would be great??? Ideas on making connections? Anyone else new and need a ski buddy?

I'm not the best at starting conversations either, but the hill for me is the best place to start one, because you both obviously have one common passion that you can talk about. That's pretty much all I can say because I'll probably be in the same situation as you when I'm in uni.

just keep getting involved in ski clubs. you'll make friends! also, i am super jealous of you. i would do anything to live in SLC with an alta season pass. good luck!

Just moved here two weeks ago from the east. Once ski season starts things will start to turn. I don't know many people either and am banking on meeting people through working at brighton.

I've never been to SLC so I can't really speak from personal experience, but go to coffee shops and just say fuck it and walk up to a cute girl and introduce yourself. Go to the bars.

Most of the time girl users on here are marked by having a pink username instead of a blue one. Some women opt out of the pink name.

I'm sure you will meet people once the season starts. Where did you transfer from, and what is your major? The U definitely isn't the best for meeting people unless you luck out in class. Ski Snowbird a few times too if you can. The tram line is super conducive to meeting new people.

Best of luck, maybe we'll meet on the hill sometime!

I transferred from Alabama but grew up in Durango Colorado..... it was a very out of character decision and needless to say I had to leave for sanity and lack of snow. I'm a dance major which throws people off and the other dancers are typically not that fun or outgoing on any level. I'm in serious need for some friends outside of the department and dance world. Thanks for the input. I'll for sure be at snowbird here and there.

I also go to the U and have been in salt lake slightly over a year now, and I feel ya on the trying to find people with similar interests here, especially with other girls. which is the opposite of what I was expecting. I ski at the bird and brighton and would be stoked to shred with another girl if your ever at either resort. Hit me up!

movin out to cottonwood heights in a little over a week from the east as well. working at the canyons though. might try to get a job at brighton though to be closer to my house. what are you doing at brighton?

lift operator. I know they are hiring at the customer service desk at brighton and I think they might not hire any more lifties but you can always give dave a call at 801 532-4731. Brighton is a small area that a lot of locals go to. Not too sure how the vibe is at the canyons is.

the vibe at the canyons is super corporate and not very chill. Brighton is a very cool place because it has very limited development, no multi national real estate conglomerate to cater too and its mostly locals.

look for business students and engineers. We do it right. Go to places like jackalope and bourbon house. Thats where all the idiots hang out.
