I, unbeknownst to him now, have decided to do a q+a interview with the man himself, as hes been doing for the ski community. Hes asked so many questions to the athletes of our sport, but do we know enough about the interviewer himself?

This thread should work the same way his do. Ask questions, upvote other ones you like, and I will decide which ones to ask him once he finds out I'm interviewing him.

Annnddd to Moose-o, if this takes off at all, I'll PM you.

Per hour, or yearly salary? Per hour I make shit... but I work a lot of hours in a year.

Surprisingly, very little is paid in beer. With that being said, Doug keeps the office stacked with food, coffee, and booze -- which is amazing.

And I very rarely expense booze. I tend to keep those as personal expenses.

Yes and no. We've already had a few smaller ones, but the space is a lot nicer than it used to be / there's a couple other companies operating in the office (it's an open concept shared office)... so we can't host ragers like we used to.

With that being said, I plan on having a bunch of NS Gatherings throughout the winter -- whether it be for happy hour, a day of lapping the park, a night of urban, etc.

And members are always welcome to drop by -- just make sure you bring beer ;)

A wide variety of reasons actually. I'm just going to post them as bullet points to keep it short & sweet.

- I grew up on Newschoolers, and if it wasn't for NS I wouldn't be here today. I jumped at the opportunity to enable others to do the same and make careers in the ski industry for themselves -- whether they be writers, photographers, producers, athletes, etc.
- Working with Doug again.
- The Yearbook / changing up traditional print media.
- I missed the instant feedback you get online vs in print -- hell, we basically got zero feedback other than the usual "Yeah bro the last issue was sick" catchphrase at iF3 / SIA / WSI / etc.
- The Hood Crew
- I was tired of working from home and wanted to go back to working in an office environment.
- I hit a ceiling at SBC and could no longer grow as an individual (at least not at the speed I'd like to / used to) or further grow the publication.
- I can't go into too much detail here, but there was an ongoing issue which was making it very difficult for me to properly do my job. Those who know me or have worked with me at SBC know what that is, and how many personal sacrifices I made to try and rectify it. Don't bother asking me to elaborate -- it won't happen.
- I'm sure I'm missing a bunch...

With all that being said, it was actually a really tough decision for me. I absolutely loved working with Leslie Anthony (who taught me more than I could have ever wished for), Scott Birke (Snowboard Canada editor and SBC Media Winter Director) and the rest of the SBC crew. I also busted my balls to get Jeff a job at SKIER, so it was a little ironic that I had to give my 2 weeks only 2 days after he started working for us haha.

At the time I was also deeply involved with iF3, and didn't want to give that up or leave Felix hanging at the absolute worst time of the year.

I think it'll definitely draw more contributors, but not necessarily "big name" contributors -- which I'm assuming you consider the Blake's and Mattias' of the ski world.

The intention was never to draw those big names. With that being said, we're not going to turn them away if they want to be a part of the community and content ecosystem.
