Old videos got more views than new ones

My buddy posted a video on facebook the other day and reminded me of this. his video was just some mellow, decent skiing for 2007

but has 7300 views

looking at my own

has 5600 views


these edits were not great at the time they came out. now, even great edits do not see this many views as the old videos. we have probably doubled the amount of traffic to newschoolers since 2007, but video views have gone down.

other friends have mentioned that since the website switched to the tumblr, new style front page, their view counts have dropped significantly as well.


so my question is, why? why did so many more people see these old edits? were there just less videos per member, and gopro edits have watered down the pool? are people going through and watching old stuff? or does the new front page system stop videos from getting the attention they might have before?
