its funny that pro pipe skiers are hating when pipe skiers in general usually have at least one hit where they pretty much don't grab. Save a few of the better guys half the field usually has some kind of wrapped trick completely grabless. Tanner helped pioneer that

Seriously though, calling someone out for filming a commercial is just embarrassing. Andy has it right. This has no negative impact on anyone and if it puts a few bucks in her pocket, good for her.

Maybe it would be easier if T Hall could just post his all-caps list of the rules of how to behave when you're a freeskier. Things you can do, things you can't. You know, so we can pretty much ignore it completely. Logan's dead on here but as much as WW shouldn't be calling people out for not being able to grab their pipe tricks, it's even more ridiculous for Tanner Hall to be moralizing to skiers on how to behave in the industry... I seem to recall one or two mistakes he may have made during the course of his illustrious career.

People are overreacting. For photoshoots like this for commercials, its all about cost. Her going up in front of a greenscreen in an completely controlled enviroment is a million times less expensive then trying to create it on real snow, in a real pipe, on real mountains.

Who remembers the sequence of JF Houle, where they replaced one of the frames of him landing with a cartoon character or something?

Boooo! I was hoping I was going to get forgotten about on this page. This is most definitely not a big deal as everyone has told me in this thread and rope shoots will probably never become the norm. If I had to pick and choose battles it wouldn't have been this one and I wouldn't donate money to the anti-rope crusade. This was the biggest topic of the day so I dove in. Did I sound over-the-top-slippery-slope about ropes, probably. Do I want to see more rope shoots? No.

You're right Logan, when I was younger I liked to spin and didn't grab a lot. My skiing has changed a lot after 2 knee injuries.
NS is it's own world, Tanner "stirring the pot" is hysterical.
Life's too short. You have to be able to laugh at yourself. ITS SKIING, were not curing cancer haha. Enjoy it and don't take it too seriously.
I love skiing and think this is so funny.
Keep posting the hate! It's hysterical!
(Ps "Download My App" I worked 2 jobs the whole summer and rehabbing my knee so I can just ski this season like you guys living in and out if my car. Donations from my parents 'well-off' friends to help pay for travel would help me tremendously. I'm not gonna boycott a potential shot at the Olympics. It's better than going to school and working a desk job the whole winter)

Besides the who call out and sell out thing going on, I don't see what's wrong with the photo.

This was shot on Toronto, I'm assuming it's for CTV, which is Canada's host provider for the Olympics.
She's in front of a green screen, which means that she'll most likely be keyed out of it, and keyed into a layer which has an event venue background on it.

If it's some kind of graphic that is going to be added built up and added onto the current event running, doing a green screen would be the best way to build this graphic.

For those who have ever used tv production equipment (switchers, graphics machines), you'd know this is a ton easier than you think it would be than filming, and adding layers and effects later.

Selling out would be her sending it in the pipe for a McDonalds commercial. This is the next level, she is getting paid to fake skiing. She should donate any money she made doing this to her teammates who got their funding cut.

A) saying "Nothing against Roz" after you blatantly hated on her makes you look like a fucking idiot. taking the moral "high road" after you started the hate thread is retarded.

B) it's so fucking lame when people bring their knee injuries into a conversation like this. we are skiers. we have all blown our knees. it sucks.

C) props for working two jobs this summer. but if you didn't make enough to fund a ski season working as hard as you make it sound you did, i would consider looking at real trade work (framing, landscaping, etc.), not jobs like coaching a local gymnastics program 2 nights a week.


(C was a blatant assumption. but hey, i thought it was funny. if i'm wrong so be it)
