This is such an idiotic argument to attempt to make, and I'm a fucking idiot for actually trying.
You don't have to equal someone in skill or ability to make valid observations about those qualities. Secondly, if you aren't perceptive or knowledgable enough to make slightly more subtle judgments about a person's skiing style beyond superficial bullshit like clothing and hairstyle, well, you're doing it wrong.
In terms of binary, quantifiable things like grabbing throughout a trick, landing quietly, degrees of rotation, you cannot argue that Goepper isn't one of the very best.
You can find things about his skiing that aren't as aesthetic or "stylish", though. Clearly, those things are subjective, and maybe some people even prefer some of those things (a perfect example is his tendency to really exaggerate upperbody/arm prewind, particularly spinning on to rails. As the rotation continues, his hands sometimes go over his head, and I don't think it looks very controlled, relaxed, or smooth), but it's so dumb on your part to try and reduce any/all criticisms to being about dumb shit like clothing choice.
Do you really believe that the only difference between Adam Delorme and Nick Goepper is jacket and pant size?
Adam Delorme has had an infinitely bigger impact on skiing than Nick Goepper, and it's not because he wears a lot of black.
NS isn't "anti-comp". There's a real reason why this site tends to value other aspects of skiing over competitions, even one's that highlight the type of skiing most of us like. It's because skiing exists well outside of and beyond competitions. Football only exists as a competition. 99% of skiers will never compete in any aspect of skiing, and for most it isn't even on the radar in terms of being a goal. Therefore, people just aren't by default in awe of competitors the way they are in other sports.
It's ok to think Goepper is an amazing skier and to prefer his skiing over others. It's downright stupid to try and argue that the only reason he isn't NS's hero is because his clothes fit and he doesn't shotgun beers and/or blow smoke at the camera.
