Has anyone here used Arc'teryx gear before? I'm interested in purchasing their Mantis 26 backpack for school, and I'm just wondering what anyone here has to say about their product.
You can't go wrong with Arc'teryx. I don't have any experience with the Mantis but if it's anything like most other Arc'teryx products, you won't be disappointed.
Arc'teryx is good quality but using it as a backpack for school? Either you've got too much money or you're an idiot. I honestly wouldn't buy Arc'teryx on sale because it's so god damn expensive, even Patagucci is cheaper.
Arcteryx is some if the best stuff you will find. There packs are not super expensive but made really well. There outerwear is awsome too. High end but you get what you pay for.
do you use it in summer as well? when i was hiking with my heli pro this summer the snowboard carry/seat made my back sweaty as fuck. i dont think the arcteryx would have this problem since it doesnt have a horizontal snowboard carry but just curious
The Quintic does actually have a horizontal board carry; that clip system has so many different carry options! As far as being too hot, I haven't had any problems with it like I did with my Heli pack on spring/summer tours. My only issue with it is the straps; they are pretty thin so hiking an approach with your skis/board and boots on your back gets a little uncomfortable. Also, there isn't an insulated hydro sleeve so you'll need to get a neoprene insulated tube if you plan on using a camelback in winter conditions. Other than that, it's by far my favorite ski pack.
Doesn't get much better than Arc'teryx, but even on sale it's pretty expensive for carrying a few books or a laptop. More worth it for one of their harnesses, packs, or a jacket. A bookbag doesn't need to be able to go to Denali and back.
