Wondering if this would work well for a rainbow rail for my backyard setup. Does anyone have experience with this?

Do you have access to it locally? Shipping can be a bitch for large sheets. Depending on what you're making if you're getting it shipped you might want to go in the biggest sections you can get without having freight ship. If you're building a standard box it doesn't really matter how wide they are as you're gonna rip them down anyway. You should be able to get a 2'x4' section of at least 1x4 regular shipping. And then you just turn that into 4' sections the length of what ever your building.
Don't forget to countersink your screws.
