5'10", 145 lb, expert skier but shit at park. Been skiing on 161 Chronics for years so it's time to get bigger skis. Pretty much set on the J Skis J90 (Stept Collab). Talked to J Levinthal and he said the ski is very similar to the newer Chronic. He said he's my height and a little heavier than me and he skis the 171, but most people my height go 178. Skiing mostly east coast, trying to do more EC backcountry this year, a bit of park, lots of woods, and I ski fast. Too fast. I carve the shit out of my skis too.
I ski the older (117 underfoot) SFBs at a 182 and I love the length. Obviously a very different ski but I can handle the length.

Can anyone with experience with the newer Chronics offer advice? 171 or 178 cm? I know this is a dumb thread, but I have to be sure I don't make the wrong call because I really don't have enough money to spend on new skis. And I just. Can't. Decide. Leaning toward the 178.
