I'm doing it this year. I've decided. I have my car at school, I have an apartment with enough space to fit my ski gear, I'm FUCKING DOING IT!

I know there is powder and general backcountry yumminess to be found on our otherwise frozen, barren coast. And I want to find it this year. And I don't feel like making a TGR account.

SO BRETHREN! WHO SHALT GO FORTH AND SHRED THE GNAR WITH ME?! WHO SHALL BE BRAVE ENOUGH TO VENTURE FORTH INTO THE UNCHARTED, IN SEARCH OF POW POW?!?!

Seriously, I'd love to get a group together to communicate with about powder days and impromptu trips. I won't be able to get all the way up north super often, as I'm going to school in Rhode Island and am usually super swamped with work, but I'm down to make a serious, concerted effort to get at least 20 days in this year including a trip out west with the fam. And I'm not skiing park. I'm thinking the spots that exist in local lore—and Meathead films.

Ill be in southern VT for the winter, near okemo/killington!
Im 100% down for any backcountry riding trips!
Ive skied the last few years at sugarloaf and its surronding backcountry!
I have backcountry guiding, med evac, and medical trauma expierence!

Word man, with this weekends potential storm and cold temps we might be looking at potential for backcountry riding early like last year!!!!!

Also my place isnt huge or a palace but theres a futon and i have a hotel type cot,and plenty of floor... Could crash at/travel from/meetup at my place

So down. Located about an hour north of NYC, and I can definitely pick people up when I head north for a trip. Dont have an official avy 1, but lived out in CO for a year, and have 15+ days touring up in the San Juans. Know how to dig a pit and do burial rescues. Have a full touring setup, beacon, shovel, probe, avalung, and I am also an EMT.

anybody down to hit up my "secret spot" in West Greenwich RI?? awesome clear slope ready to build a booter!!!! Fingers crossed for more than less snow! I also know of some rocks we could possibly jump off, its like a 20-30 ft drop

Basically, unfortunately. Interning 11-6 Friday and Saturday in Boston, and I have a 10-page paper to finish while I'm up here. And now we're supposed to get two feet! :(

I'll throw my name down in this thread with a few details:
I go to school in Waterville, Maine, but I have a car.
I will not have skins until February.
I've never skied backcountry
I have skied just two runs since 2012 but that will change soon.
I am much more than a park skier, though, and can hold my own on pow, in chutes, off cliffs, and on ice. Anyway, hit me up if you're interested in helping show me the ropes of BC skiing. Also, I'd like to think that as a road and mountain biker, my legs are in pretty good shape if that's an issue.

All AIARE, all within driving distance of all points in New England.






In addition to booking classes, there is some great literature around these sites. If you spent anywhere as much time on these sites as you all do on NS, there would be a lot of wicked safe and sensuous sessions off piste.

I can show you some spots. I skied some cool lines in the notch off of spruce peak in december, other than some jabroni following us in there it was pretty sick. I got some shots of him to laugh at I'll post later.

I have had a pretty fun winter so far getting after the powda.

Took my AVY 1 with Pudge last weekend and had an epic time up a Tuckerman Ravine. Truly a beautiful place. Can't want to go back this spring.

Have any of you guys ever skied Lincoln's Throat or Raymond's Cataract? I've been looking at them for access points and what it's like. They look pretty bury but a ton of fun. If you have done them, what sort of equiptment would someone need to bring up there? Is it some serious ice climbing stuff or maybe just an axe and your ski stuff?

I am planning to do Lincoln's Throat sometime. It is a steep and prone to avalanching so you definitely need avy gear. From my research you can definitely ski it without ice climbing gear (as many people do) but at the top is a big ice cliff which many ice climbers do. I am excited to do it. But it takes some planning and serious snowpack evaluation to make sure it is safe.

Such high hopes, so dashed :( I only got 3 days in this season. Had an internship on the weekends so that pretty much killed any chance of me going skiing. Nice to see y'all getting after it, though!
