How much would it cost approximately to ship a jacket from say Wisconsin to Canada? On the USPS site it estimated $60 but that seems quite steep.

That does seem a hair steep. What kind of a shipping timeline would that be? I will admit though that shipping anything here will always suck.

That sounds about right if they're factoring in duties and whatnot. Is it express shipping? Where in Canada is it shipping to?

it was just a possible trade I had with someone in canada...lesson learned, always include "To the US only" in your b/s/t threads.

Ive shipped 191 ANTs with some heavy bindings from Chicago to BC, cost $30 with insurance. Go to usps and pack the item up as small as it can get, and send it parcel post/ground. Itll take 5-7, but shouldnt be that much. Also look into the flat rate envelopes/boxes.

That is steep. That, or you did it wrong.
A couple of things to consider:
USPS does not quote duties in the shipping rates, so that price wouldn't include that. Recipient should be responsible for such things.
Jackets can fit in small boxes, therefore you won't get boned by dimensional sizing. With that said, you don't really get boned until you exceed 22x17x11 or equivalent box size for a lot of USPS international shit.
Priority Mail international receives a tracking number and you can buy insurance. Of course insurance brings up a sticky issue of declared value. For your protection, always declare the actual value (such as the purchased price) if you did sell it.
Buy the postage label online. Usually saves a few bucks (speaking of Bucks, hopefully Chris Hansen buys them and they become the sonics).
You should be able to ship for around $30. $15ish if you're a cheapskate with First-Class.

Send item as gift too and there shouldn't be any import/border taxes
