When does Breaking Bad get good?

SERIOUS question.

im almost done season two, and this show doesn't do it for me. does it get better? how long should i tough it out for? can i skip ahead to the last two seasons?

i can't quite put my finger on it, but i think my problem with this show is how not believable it is. firstly, they should have been busted long ago. also, so many of the characters seem like caricatures (hank, tuco (wtf), saul (wtf), jesse's buddies, even skyler)

its also super slow paced, but i get that that comes with the territory

so someone convince me to keep watching this (without spoilers)

fwiw i am not a TV person. the only show ive watched start to finish is The Wire. people often compare the two but so far its not even close

it's good immediately. If you're not enjoying it by now, Vh1 is airing a spin off of a spin off of rock of love that you might be into.

if you need a constant action packed show the first two season's aren't for you. It gets a lot more involved in the last two.

I would say persevere and do not skip. II found it a bit of a slow burner at times but then it just seemed to get better and better until I got to the last season and a half - where it definitely lives up to the hype.

I found season 1 to be way more gripping than seasons 2-4, although the whole thing in general is incredibly addicting. If you're not into it yet, it's not for you

It's a modern day Shakespearian tragedy with two of the greatest actors of our time based on a genius meth cook who fucks with everybody. It's good from the start.

Although it definitely picks up near the end of the third season and goes all the way to the end. You need to watch the entire thing because if not, you're missing out big time.

When the final season ends.

That said it was kind of sweet to randomly see the last few episodes of the show at a friends one night after skipping the middle 3 ish seasons. Skipped more bullshit and saw how it ended. Worked for me.

I believe I did. The show is a joke. It isn't the worst thing ever but the hype is. Not believable at all. The plot just doesn't make sense.

Oh well, people love it though. I'd say skip to the last 3 or 4 episodes and watch the end go down. I probably wouldn't have watched them on my own but it wasn't bad, and I knew how the thing ended after wasting my time watching a couple seasons of it.

At least the first to seasons made sense for the most part. Then they started making ridiculous shit happen left and right and destroyed any chance of having a decent plot. That's what people love though.

This doesn't make any sense but ERMAHGERD it's so freaking exciting I'm wetting myself watching it!

Intelligent would imply a decent plot that actually made sense. Breaking bad was more of, "Wow that was retarded but I'm going to try and keep watching anyway".

After a million of those it was just too much. Better story idea than weeds IMO but it ended up being the same sort of thing. But like omg she sold weed and he was selling meth, it's so edgy and amazing!!!!!!

Nothing. TV is pretty bland these days. Walking dead and breaking bad got my hops up. I'm not anti tv shows, I was actually pretty stoked on those 2 shows coming out. Both looked really good.

I thought breaking bad had a good story line, good acting. Maybe it was because I wasn't over it by then but I felt the first season was far more watchable than the 3rd.

Okay I wasn't really going to comment, but... okay. TV is bad these days. What? It's pretty much the best TV has ever been. There is more good TV now than ever before. Maybe the current crop doesn't include the best shows ever but there's some good shit out there.

So, I'm calling you out on this: please name for me ~ ten TV shows, out of the entire history of television, that you thought were excellent. Or as many as you can.

I thought you said the plot didn't make sense? And yet the storyline did? So what happened in the show was stupid and you hated it, but what happened in the show was good. And you skipped half the fucking seasons. You can't complain about the plot if your lazy ass couldn't be bothered to watch it. I was going to give you 0/10 but I already did so ya.

Herp derp. I meant the basic theme of the show made sense and could have been great. Then they went balls out into lets makes a bunch of stupid shit happen to cause more drama and therefore make the show "better" which I thought was total bullshit.

And as far as JD's comment wait till I get back from phish tour.

Probably not many of the genre though. A lot of crime drama type shows blow. It's not even that I hate the genre, movies have a much better track record.(maybe not overall but I can think of a bunch of solid movies) Tv shows tend to do stupid shit for no reason.

I'll be honest, I fast forwarded through a lot of the "family" scenes with Skylar, Flynn, and Walt in the first few seasons. They seemed kinda long-winded and boring to me. And there were definitely certain plotlines and even entire episodes that were kinda contrived. But I will be damned if the last 5 episodes of the final season wasn't some of the best television ever made. The writing is nothing short of incredible. I was never a religious Breaking Bad fan but i'm definitely sad that it's over.

It gets really good towards the end when Walt tries to kill Gus Fring while Jesse is working with Hank to try to draw Fring out but it backfires and Hank dies because Fring's boy was carrying a chicken launcher.


Also Walt crashes two planes together because he let's some dumb bitch overdose.

don't puzzle over it too much.. if youre not super into it by now i doubt anything is going to happen to change that too much. though i think season 4 is one of the best ones?

it's a good show, but it's not as amazing as people seem to think. it's well shot, the acting is super good, and it's fun, but the plot is just okay and really weak at points

it aint the sopranos..had a lot of fun watching it though, for sure
