Replying to Dalbello lupo sp---cut down or softer after-market tounge?

So these boots seem to be exactly what I'm looking for. I've had good expieriences with dal bello in the past and this specific model fits well+I like the burly hike option and rubber souls. The only turn off is that they're a bit stiff for me, my coaches and boot fitter have offered to cut them down some, and I know there is the option of buying some softer tounges from the rep also. My question is have any of you guys had expierience with either of these options on dalbello boots? Thanks in advance for any input that will help me make this decision.
