Riveting tale chap. Also the closest thing to a home mountain for me the last 5 or 6 years was mount snow.

I'm just trying to find out who won. I don't even make it out west ever.

granite peak should definitely be 1 for midwest. There's no way a place in illinois is above granite.

pissed that seven springs is not best park on east... but i calmed down when I saw that the cover of the issue was a seven springs local legend killing it at seven springs

This is a "reader poll" so, if for example...Some place Illinois won...or western mega park did not make the cut...well why didn't  you vote for the preordained god of parks.  It is really awesome to see a resorts make the cut in the Transworld poll that does not have a major population center within a reasonable distance.   This shows the dedication and hard work of the park crews of these areas who get the votes…Look at SAM Magazine park feature and event contest results over the history of it existence.  This is a poll mainly by those who are the most involved in the industry.  Chestnut has won that in the feature and event categories…Surprised Otsego Club did not make the top three in Transowrorld anytime…It is a poll...people need to vote…Did you vote?

I can't speak for Cannonsburg, but Tryol and chestnut aren't even close to granite. Those fun features were hike only and their jumps are cheese wedges. Plus their lifts are so slow in comparison to granite's high speed lift. The locals know Granite is numero uno!

Granite didn't publicize the poll as much as places like Tyrol Basin or Sunburst. So therefore the people who saw the posts usually only voted for that hill instead of others. Its a popularity contest basically...

I mean from what I saw they had a pretty decent slopestyle course set up at one point. Obviously the features in that picture were hike only but that was a rail jam setup.

I don't ride any of those mountains. I think granite was number 1 last year or the year before though. Just because they didn't win doesn't mean the mountains above them are shit and got hooked up. Cannonsburg seems like it's been making some serious moves the last few years.

I mean there are flaws in many contests, but I think to say that this poll is just a popularity contest is bullshit. It seems like many deserving mountains even those well under the radar of the masses have made the list. Of course it isn't perfect but I think brushing it off completely because your favorite mountain didn't win is kind of lame.

Especially now days with the east coast top 5 and midwest top 3. It's a great way for people to find out what parks are killing it.

I guess for out-of-towners its a basic idea of what the region offers. But really if you were to ride the top 3 parks listed, it would quickly become evident that granite is better. Granite actually isn't my favorite mountain, its just from what my friends and I have experienced compared to all of these other parks. haha re-reading this it does sound like I'm hyping granite peak up a lot. I just got a little heated seeing how inaccurate the poll was.
