Champlain college

anyone go here? i know since us seniors are applying these threads always pop up. I visited there once and felt like it was a really nice school when touring. Anyone have their opinions? I also heard you can bring your car there all four years, is that true? if so, do you have one there?

I also plan to major in Computer Forensics and minor in Business Finance

Champlain is currently my first choice..

My sister is a senior there and whenever I go to visit her I just like the vibes around the campus, more so than UVM

Champlain is my first choice also. yes you can have a car all four years. ik that Franchino goes there but i dont know of anyone else probably a bunch of YMR kids

I was going to be a freshman there in 2011 but couldn't afford the absurd out of state tuition. Burlingtons a sweet town though.

I toured Champlain when I was looking at colleges, really liked it, I thought I was def gonna go there. Then I went back again, and I honestly just wasn't feeling it. I didn't like how there wasn't a "real" campus. And I ended up going to school in western new york, haha.

Not hatin on champlain, seems like a cool school. But i definitely loved having a real campus with grass to throw a frisbee on and room to hang out and all that.

hey they are building a bunch of new dorms and there will actually be a quad, it'll be done this summer or something i think. All i know, it will be done for any incoming freshman

most end up dropping out and if you half a brain it's easy to stand out and make solid connections with your professors and advisors. With their connections they can help you out infinitely more than simply having a uvm degree.


*not to down talk UVM, if you want study real concrete subjects its the way to go for a top not education, simply stating at Champlain what you really pay for are the more intimate connections.

I had some friends just graduate there from business and CS. the classes were too small for the amount of students they let in, some seniors were forced to take their final business classes a year after they were supposed to graduate because they didn't have enough slots. Business didn't have access to enough internships either. I've never heard anything bad about CS there.

There are some douchey things about UVM, (fraternities, LaxBrahs, liberal cocksucking, protests against oil by kids driving their parents' Land Rovers, a few too many hippies, a few too many drug addicts) but there is also a huge ski/snowboard community, Freestyle ski team, freestyle snowboard team, Real life science and engineering programs with funding, 2 onsite fitness centers, campus and downtown scenes, team sports, intramural sports, a huge selection of clubs, themed living spaces, volleyball teams (dem asses) and a ton of free on campus entertainment they bring in because they're a large (relative to vermont) school with enough money to do so.

Oh I forgot to mention that the freestyle Ski team and freestyle snowboard team sends people to national competitions out west.

honestly all the kids saying saint mikes is better than champlain have there heads up their asses. i visited both colleges in the same day with my mom and saint mikes sucked in comparison to champlain. saint mikes isnt even in burlington. plus they hadnt changed jack shit since my mom went there in the 80's

^and if you think st mikes has the smallest dorms you were probably at a different saint mikes. their singles are bigger than any double ive seen at UVM

but as for champlain... theres some bitch in my study abroad program who doesnt shut the fuck up about champlain this and champlain that and all I can think every time she opens her mouth is the exact opposite. Im aware the school is pretty chill but beware its also gamer central. Youre in burly so if the champlain parties suck you can make friends with uvm kids and party with them. Also i guess they dont really give much in the way of scholarships so be prepared to drop bread

i mean they're practically on top of each other so the atmosphere is the same. the only college ive applied to is UVM and I'm pissing myself waiting for their decision so I guess I'm wondering if it's easier to get into if UVM doesn't work out. Just looking for the major differences that stand out...socially, academically, skiing wise...just whatever sets them apart the most

Only applying to one school that's your dream school is one of the worst things you can do. Apply to as many schools as you can just so you have choices.
You're from new york, as am i, Champlain is a private school which means there isn't any difference between in state and out of state tuition. Out of state for uvm is like 36k, Champlain is around 30. Plus private schools have a lot more money to give out in scholarships compared to state schools.
If you're set on living in that area, apply to Champlain, Suny albany and Suny plattsburg.
I'm seriously looking at Champlain for college, looks like an awesome school.

I went there for 2 years, awesome school. Burlington is legit, great college town, easy "downtown" and house party access. Plenty of people who are into snow and places to shred.

Relaxed atmosphere with small classes for the most part. Had some really good teacher and some real crazy wack jobs too. So expensive though, ultimately why I headed west.

Nice to be out of school and not over my head with debt post college.

And the difference between UVM and Champlain? How about a few thousand students and its a University, making it very different compared to what you can expect out of a private school.
