line made quite a bit of money off jokes that 4bi9/stepp came up with (i.e. afterbang, future spin), makes sense that levinthal would want one of the more recognizable+creative riders on one of the best crews around... or they're brilliantly trolling all of NS, again

Well this seems like a good place to announce it. Steve Stepp is hosting a LIVE "Wine on Skiing" Saturday October 19th (time will be announced next week). During which there will be interviews, question answering and the premier of the first episode of "They See Me Trollin" season 2.

I can confirm that Steve's no longer riding for Amplid and has left to work on a new project. The vibes are good between Steve and Amplid and we wish him a ton of success.

Yeah we've got McRae in the US and European riders Noah, Luka and Dima that really represent what the Global Cartel is all about.

meh, I think Brogan just did Brogan, sure he was the first to make the style popular but 4bi9 more or less coined the term in several of their edits. Never seen an edit of Brogz where he says anything besides "I like to meet new peepull hurrhurrdurr"

Regardless, I think it actually originated from snowboarding (as always)... anyone remember RobotFood??

yeah, afterbang was a snowboard joke long ago, the idea being that people would try to redeem shitty tricks or landings by afterbanging

but everyone should watch Afterbang (2002), it's seriously one of the best snow movies ever

- Afterbang was first used in winter sports by robot food but they got the term from gymnastics
- Line used the term Afterbang for skis after skiers started using it to reference Tom's stomped landings. The dude from Robot Food got super pissed at us claiming he owned the term and upset dorky skiers and ski companies are using a word he cliams to own. http://pierrewikberg.blogspot.com/2009/04/afterbang-skis-wtf.html
- Steve did create the term Futurespin and that's why I asked him if we could use for a Line ski model. He actually spun into the future
- I'm not working with Steve for my new ski company. Why would I collaborate on a ski design with someone that's not even good enough to be pro?

i just might die where i stand if i ever hear a snowboarder admit they stole something from gymnastics.

that blog post is fucking hilarious though, especially the comments section afterward... apeman killin em! i like robot food, but had no idea the guy behind it was such a raging douche. i hope he gets twice the hate from skaters as he puts out for skiers. talk about an inferiority complex, jeez.

Pretty sure there was an illustration in a snowboarding magazine about pre bang, bang and after bang. All about how you can make yourself look good doing something shitty. It was obviously a joke. but pretty well done.

yeah, personally i think line naming skis "afterbang" and "future spin" is super lame but i was disappointed to see an iconic film maker like pierre whining about skating vs snowboarding vs skiing like some 15 year old wanna be

anyway, if you really want to argue that shit-- skiers were around doing gnarly shit before skateboarding was even a sport, nevermind snowboarding. i'm the first to admit that skiing is sometimes 3 years behind the snowboard scene but the whole (surfing) > skating > snowboarding > skiing circle jerk is hilarious

"guys, do you think 16 year old skater bros in socal would think our snowboarding is counter culture enough?" gosh i sure hope so breh...
