Skiing tends to be easier to pick up on initially. There's no set transfer rate, it's just about how big of balls you have, how willing you are to fall, how athletic you are, how often you ski, where you ski, and in what conditions.
I snowboarded for 7 years until i switched to skiing 2 seasons ago. I'm dropping cliffs and skiing pretty decently.
The fact that you are a good snowboarder and know that "I could do this on a snowboard" makes you way less afraid to try stuff, and you progress super fast.
I snowboarded for 7 years amd switched two years ago. I ski'd when I was alot younger. I can now ski very good and will really focus on tricks this season as I have just about as much confidence as I had when I was boarding.
Towards the beginning of learning most definatley. I was learning to make good carving turns while my friends were out ripping. I gave in one day and just shredded with a snowboard haha.
The truth is I have way more fun skiing than snowboarding because now I am constantly learning new tricks from friends and progressing super fast.
Lets just say it might suck for a bit, but once you get the hang of it, it is soooo much fun and worth it to learn.
At the beginning of last season something just clicked and pow skiing became way more comfortable for me, this was after about 1.5 seasons of skiing. Assuming you ride 30+ times a year, you will have the ability to comfortably ride pow within a couple seasons.
