I owe $750 for filming an urban

this was my last day living in Colorado.. I was filming an urban session and didn't even get to hit the rail (notice in the photo that I'm wearing sneakers) and then the cops showed up and told us to break down the lip and pack it up. after being told at the scene that the owner wasn't pressing charges we thanked the officer for being courteous and left the scene.. I honestly thought of it as another example of how awesome people in Colorado are only, to find out today that he changed his mind and sued all three of us. totaling in $350 in restitution and $300 in court fees from each of us totaling $1050 to repaint a 30 ft railing? (which sounds closer to the cost of a brand new railing) and to top it all off, Colorado never sent me a summons so I missed this court date without talking to them and now have to try and get a warrant removed from out there...
this is absolute fucking bullshit and is really putting a dent in the funds for my move back to Tahoe. so fuck you mr. colorado snob, I'm glad I chose to move back to Cali.

The amount of CO hate here is ridiculous. How many of you have ever been to crested butte? Last time I checked, the majority of the town sends crazy lines and exchanges stories of close calls on the bus whilst drinking whiskey out of the bottle. Colorado is kind of the dopest place on earth if you are a skier...wonder why almost every major ski/filming company comes out of here? It's not the state's fault some guy is a dick.

Lol. The guy sounds like a dick , but it this really is your fault. Its not your god given right to go hit urban whenever and wherever your want.

Urban involves a lot of risks, thats what makes it so badass and epic to catch on film. One of those risks is security/police. Doesnt mean you have to hate on CO for it. You did something illegal and got caught, be a man about it and pay up.

Have you ever been to cb? the majority of the people that actually live here year round are by no means rick folk, they're everyday people that work two jobs so that they can live and ski here. The people that are rich are the vacation owners and tourists that come to stay. I think you might have us confused with Aspen.

everything in this is so dam true. OP has no right to complain at all.

Im a skier and love watching people hit urban but no way in hell would i let anyone ski on my property.

We dont have the right to ski,skate wherever we want on whatever we want, especially when you can destroy property or get hurt and sue like every other asshole nowadays

You can sue someone for just about anything, wether he wins or not is up to the evidence presented to the judge or jury..
It is the same concept as the lookout when a place gets robbed, the lookout may not have been the one to break in, but he was a willing paticipant

you and your friends go to home depot grab some sand paper and a bucket of paint and sand/paint the rail. costs you $50, rail gets painted and the owner gets the satisfaction of watching you guys paint his rail. everyone wins. $1000 bucks to paint a rail what an ass.

You are the perfect example of all these people who can't read.. I am not shitting on Colorado I am shitting on the douche bag.. and hes not from CB, he is one of those rich mother fuckin SoCal assholes who owns a big ass house in CB and stays at it for vacations..
I only said I'm glad I'm moving back to Cali because if I moved back to CB i would probably burn the dudes house down.
I love CB its one of the best places I've ever been.. you all just need to learn how to fucking read.

Truth is you were part of a group trespassing and damaged his rail. Don't look to nsers to coddle you, be responsible for your actions and move on.

^ To anyone with this attitude: Trespassing on private property is a risk when you are filming, and getting caught is your own fault, regardless of what happened on the day. The guy had the right to sue you over the damages and you lost.

It may suck to be on that end of the stick, but it'll make the world of difference if you end up on the other side of it for a more serious issue.

Now on that note; forget that urban shit and go hike a mountain for your turns. It's worth it. Besides, sliding a rail is not that cool anymore.

That said, it does suck pretty hard that CO didn't send him a summons. That right there in it's own right is bullshit. As for the dude changing his mind, that's up to him, but fuck them for not sending you a court summons. I've been in that situation over speed camera tickets that were never sent to me. It's garbage.

1. OP was the filmer, didn't hit a thing
2. Guy sued OP for $750
3. OP called painters and they said it would cost $200 max to repair rail, so the douche is suing them for way more than what it would actually cost

umm no if you read the post this was omething that occured on my last day in Colorado (which was the end of april)
I moved back East to take an EMT class to help in the process of eventually become a smoke jumper (if you don't know what that is google it)
I pent the first half of my season at Squaw, and the second half in Colorado.
I wasn't sure which I was moving back to until Squaw offered me a position coaching their team.
So you are yet another person on this site who apparently cannot read
