Best K2 ski for park (recoil, domain or sight)

Hey guys,

I'm just trying to figure out what skis to be riding this season in the park. It has to be a K2 ski. I have never skied any of there park skis before and I just was wondering what your guys opinions were on them. Last season I rode some 171cm faction kennedys and loved them (although they were a bit short). The season before I had 182cm halos and hated them, which is why i'm a bit worried that all the k2 skis are rockered.

THis will probably be only for park, I'm 5'10 and 145lbs. I normally prefer a shorter ski, so I was thinking the 174 domains. But I'm a bit afraid about larger jumps (70ftish.)

If anyone has suggestions with any of the K2 park skis that would be greatly appreciated,

why does it have to be a K2 ski?


you're not a big guy by any means so go with the Domain if you like a buttery rockered ski or go with the Recoil if you want something that will ski more of the mountain and give you a little more stability on bigger jumps.

I ride domains and I'm 80 pounds heavier than you. They are definitely soft, but I they don't chatter, I feel really solid at high speed. Great on rails, and fun on jumps too. They were fine on the black park jumps (minus Kong because I'm a pussy) too. Only problem on jumps was at Grouse when the landings turned to complete mush in the spring (like a foot of slush), then I probably wanted a stiffer ski, but no one was really landing anything anyways.

oh and they measure about 4 cms longer, but they are rockered so they end up skiing true to K2's measurement.

That is really assuring, if you don't mind me asking, how tall are you and what size did you ride? Other than kong the first 3 jumps in blackpark were no problem?

6'4 the 178s (which are more like 182ish). Regarding jumps: I ride the shack right etc line (is this "blue park"?) way more than black park. For the right line the domains were great. I never felt like the skis were holding me back jumpwise.

Oh and mine are super durable, I'm still riding on the 2010s. That's like ~150ish days, most of which had some if not all park riding. Tons of edge cracks by now, the tip exploded when it was super cold in Edmonton, but they still feel great and I'll ride them until the edges fall out.

Ya the recoils took there place since it was weird having the two main park skis worth essentially the same construction(domains and revivals). Any ways I'm 5'10 and i ski the 179 domains like said before are 182's and i am 175 lbs, they are great skis in my opinion since i only do rails and jib around since my mountain has no jumps. The rocker really adds the playfulness to the ski, and is great for slush since you won't catch as often. So bottom line comes to this, if you want a more stable ski go with the recoil, if you want a jib ski then definatley go with the domain!

Are you sure? If anything i thought the domains have extruded bases while the recoils have sintered. The recoils i know have abs sidewall and the domains don't.

According to the house, the domains are sintered and the recoils are extruded. tbh, im suprised a 500 dollar ski from k2 has an extruded base. kinda sux.

thats what I was afraid of, as long as they are responsive im okay with that. Given that I'm fairly light I'm not sure 179cm stiff ski is for me.

I think the house has their specs mixed up. Unless they changed it this year the domain has always been extruded while the recoil was sintered.

K2's website used to have base material listed under the ski specs of each ski. Last year they changed their website and now it just says "swap base" for all ski bases, even though they most definitely use different bases for cheaper versus higher end skis. I'm enough of a gear junkie that I remember the specs from when their website used to list them. It's possible they changed this year, but seems unlikely.
