The guard road will probably have the gates closed soon if the early season continues like it has so far. Kinda bummed, was hoping to get a few more downhill laps on my bike in before the snow settled in for the winter.

Someone has been cutting rails up and not hauling them out. Anyone got any info on this? Real disappointed to find some dope rails completely destroyed.

prally the cops, park city owns the land now apparently and isnt happy about kids bringing rails and such there. they gave a bunch of people warnings a few weeks ago for trespassing

um yep, if anyone happened to check the graveyard this season, i was pretty fucking pissed to see all of my welding work thrown down the drain cuz some fuckface has a burning stick stick up his ass and can't let people have fun because he has daddy issues.

so once the gate is closed, is it closed for the season...? or is there a possibility of reopening if the road melts out a bit and is deemed 'safe'?

road wont melt till June

Forest Service took down all the shit and "destroyed" it. The reason was that every one of those spots would get completely trashed with beer cans, fire pits, trash, ski shit, etc and no one would clean it up. Also, you cant build shit in national forests. Thats why all our downhill bike trails have been trashed recently too) Way easier for them to destroy the spots to stop the traffic and let nature reclaim than to waste their time hauling shit out.

thanks for the lecture bud. i for one spent a couple hours picking up, bagging, and hauling out trash at the spot with the metal flatbar. that spot has been there for years and has provided hours of enjoyment for lots of people. strange you sound so happy to see it destroyed.

But also, why would the forest service destroy it, and leave all the metal and trash behind? that just sounds counter intuitive. Like to stop kids from leaving trash by destroying 6-10 welded rails and leaving all the metal and such in the forest?

It makes sense that the forest dudes are coming up there and kicking dudes out. Me and my friends along with the TC crew got kicked out last year. It can't be them though if they are chopping up rails and shit. Its probably just some butthurt B-town boarders mad that everyone knows about their poorly hidden spots.

we were up on the last day got up before they closed the gate, was in first gear going like five mph when we started sliding sideways went backwards, towards the edge but luckily the pow on the side and my foot out the door stopped us
would have had to bail so scary, straight black boiler plate ice you couldnt even walk on it. had to back down the rest of the way, slid a good hundred feet around the curve though.

The guard road on the PC side will always stay closed this time of year because Deer Valley is running all over it getting ready for their opening in a few weeks. But as others have said, you don't want to be driving up there anyway unless you have a death wish.
