Need help buying a new car!!!

What's up NS. So I'm in need of a new car soon and don't know what to get. I want to get a good car in the snow and is also good on gas mileage. I was looking at the Subaru wrx and the VW Gti. The subbie gets decent mileage but is awesome in the snow. The Gti is great on mileage but I don't know if it's good in the snow. What else is out there that has the best of both worlds and around $10K? Thanks guys

my vote subaru, volvo , VW (diesel), or tacoma. subaru is the best in the snow and gets good gas millage but the power and sound you can get from those engines is insane. and if your still worried about getting stuck in the snow just add a 9000lb winch like i did. but all above said cars are good

Never thought of the s60r and it has the same same gas mileage as my Buick. Hopefully the gas gauge won't act the same... That needle goes up and down more often than a kid hitting puberty

I just saw a few for around $7000 but I'm afraid that +130k miles is a little too much... Or is it? Also, I feel like parts are going to be pricey.

does anyone else get this kind of sick, uncomfortable, depressed kind of feeling when they see cars like this? i swear every time i see a shitty civic or something like that i get that feeling, like i just feel sorry for the guy who actually would put money into a civic and think it makes it cooler.

Funny because if you look close, you can see that the civic has a front mount intercooler. Prob pretty quick..Civics can be made to handle crazy good, some race in the super unlimited class against vipers and vettes and hold their own....don't underestimate civics, because they can be scary quick.

Yeah that front mount intercooler means its super fast! That adds like 100 hp right? Hondas will always be pieces of shit...it doesn't matter if they are quick they are still an econo shit box

It has a big front mount, probly has a big turbo system, b or k series engine swap, ext. adding potentially waaay the fuck more than 100hp. civics are the best cars to work on, modify and tune. yes it super fast!

sweet, so you have a stoplight racer that has torque steer and understeer up the butthole and is still a piece of shit. i'll admit, ive seen a couple track civics that are somewhat decent. but the mexi-mobile civics like this one and 99.9% of other modded civics out there are just a waste, and i have driven a guys 400whp civic at a local drag event. i just didnt get it, theres no skill, or even excitement, just felt pretty meh to me. give me a stock miata, you can feel cool flooring it through an intersection in your sick civic.

subaru legacy gt. just as fast as a WRX (and even faster than the early 2.0L WRX's) but more "luxury" and with more interior room. One thing it'll have over both your choices is the cheap insurance that will come with it as insurance companies don't view it as a "race car" like a WRX. I'm biased as I'm a legacy fanatic but definitely look into them!

this is the JDM version, but you can make it look this nice easily

While I am not a fan of FWD. A civic can be made to handle well. FWD blows for drag racing, and is not as good as rwd or awd for road racing, but.....a civic can be made to handle. I have seen plenty of
"mexi-mobile" as you put it, on the road. I wouldn't say that this civic is in the at class. I don't see any stickers, and it obviously has work done to it. 400whp in a civic would be a very quick car. Maybe not off the line, but from a roll I bet it pulls pretty dam hard. My fwd DSM had about 400whp, and it ran 11's when I could get it to hook up.

FWD is way better for drag racing. The engine is in the front and so is all the weight... Just go to Autozone and get a 4" can style exhaust to let that 1.8L monster breathe and you're all set

Nah, man. AWD is the best. Slap on an exhaust, a few Wu-Tang stickers, and mud flaps, and you'll have the fastest car at the mountain!

Get the swankest AWD car you can find and you're set unless you will actually be driving through some shit or are trying to race.

I've had a Subaru and a Volvo and between the two my vote's for Subaru on overall snow ability / gas mileage

its nice. He has a lot of engine mods. Thats a good and a bad thing. For his aftermarket turbo i would ask how many PSI the turbo is running because if its over 20 psi that can decrease the life of the engine. And the 750cc injectors are war to big for a WRX. Your gas mileage would be really really low because much fuel is going in at one time. Its a nice fast car but my advice i wouldn't go for it

modded subaru's are sketchy, ive dealt with a lot of them through my friends shop and just knowing a lot of people with modded wrx's and sti's. the engines are fairly reliable stock, but anything past the basic ECU, exhaust, intake work and the reliability goes out the fucking window.
plus, you know you're getting a car thats been driven hard and beat on if its modded like that, especially with those bright ass wheels. they're decent cars for the money but they arent aging very well, so just gotta be careful with what you get.

get a bone stock wrx owned by some 60 year old guy.

if you're in the 10k range, id personally get a c4 s4 or s6, or an e30 325ix. any of those will outperform a wrx in the snow, especially the audi, the amount of grip those audi's have is insane, subaru's are good but audi is on another level. and for 10k you can get one in amazing shape that will definitely be more reliable.
