Wet iphone help

so friday night i ended up falling in a lake with my iphone in my pocket and i really don't want to buy a new one. i've had it in a bag of rice since saturday morning but it still doesnt turn on. i was just wondering if you guys had any other methods that work better than rice.

If you go into the apple store and insist that it wasn't water damage they will give you a new one especially if its under warranty. Just don't tell them you dropped it in water and even though they have a marker that tells them it was water damage, they can't say that you are lying

if it's a 4S or 4 apple will replace it for free, as for the 5 or 5S. idk they wanted me to pay $269 because my input for the charger got striped and they blamed it on the fact i have a cracked screen in the top corner. lol gl.


as for the kid above me, you can take out the battery of iphones, it's not hard at all.

If nothing works, you can bleach the water sensor (in the headphone jack) if its still on warranty. I did it and it worked flawlessly. :D

how did you do that? did you just pour a little bit of bleach down the headphone jack? and do they give you a new phone right away? (its an iphone 4 btw and i got it a few months ago)

The main thing is that i don't want to wait for them to try and repair it or some shit, id rather just buy another one if they aren't gonna give me one right away.

Next time, DO NOT TURN IT ON. That fries the wires and shit. You wanna leave your phone OFF, and if its in shit like a lake, or exceptionally an ocean, put it in isorpayal alcohol (the stuff for cuts). It doesn't affect your phones electric stuff (If its off) and it will flush out the crap and water from your phone......plus it evaporates pretty fast. Then take out the battery and put it in rice. When you are confident its all good, try turning it on.

Isopropyl alcohol aka rubbing alcohol. Dip the phone in as pure as you can find (at least 90 percent, 93 or 95 is even better) THEN put it in rice. Should have done it right away but there is still some faint hope it will revive it.


After dunking a phone, at the very least, if you are unable to find isopropyl alcohol, use distilled water to rinse it off before putting it in rice. Rice only draws out the moisture, but does NOTHING about minerals and impurities in the water that cause corrosion of tiny electrical contacts.
