You only gain that HP if your entire intake system has been actually tuned for it. Normal engines are tuned so they deal with untreated, ambient temp air and only add enough fuel for optimal power to said air before ignition. If you add colder, denser air, you are in fact forcing more air molecules into the cylinder, but that does nothing if you aren't also increasing the fuel input into the cylinder.

ha well im not even going to talk about horsepower gains or not, i bought the CAI for the dakota for mileage reasons . and all i know is that on my previous cars trucks thats really what their best for, that being said it does compliment the dual exhaust ( cat delete) nicely with a good tone, especially with the chip ( jet set on mileage) and the throttle body spacer sounds a bit better too. but that 5.2 sounds and runs great ! as for hp i have no clue and dont care , def better throttle response but yeah no idea about hp gains, all i know is that i have gained from 12/15 mpgs to 16-17/19-20 mpgs ( all hand calculated of course ) but yeah the dakotas and durangos from those years are cheap and easy to find a nice one, i had a red durango before my dakota as my daily driver / winter car etc, and i sold it with the 318 with 220,000 miles on her and i still see it driving everyday almost. but ya that car was dope cause it wasnt huge but the seats folded completely flat and i had more than enough leg/ gear room and im 6 foot 1 , but ya shitty mileage, but cheap parts that are easy to do urself too . good luck man

the only cars ive ever worked on are tuners, so i guess ive never even thought about gas mileage. Im not going to doubt you that it does help, its just an aspect of cars ive never really cared about improving. But i dig the Dakota, i wouldn't mind that as a daily. My Veloster is fun tho.
