What is your budget? Anythig under 8-9k is gunna be real tight in terms of selection.

Me pesronally id go with a jeep grand cherokee. Decently reliable, good off road and in snow, etc, plenty of room for me and a friend or two. Decent MPG i average about 22 in mine which is a v6.

Toyota Tacoma. Or an older Chevy Silverado with the 5.3

My Chevy 1500 gets anywhere from 16-19 MPG which is decent for driving all mountain roads.

It's probably one of the worst awd systems out there. I've driven two xc70s in snow, one with nice studded snow tires and honestly, I felt more capable in a rwd car, the way the awd system cuts power and/or brakes individual wheels just made it a pain in the ass, it's ok if you're just driving around slowly in easy conditions, but the second you demand much of it, it blows

A ford fiesta. Gets up to 42 Highway, and very... moddable to say. They're commonly used at Rally Schools to teach guys how to drive in rally races. Which means you won't have any problem finding stuff to upgrade your car's power, suspension, exhaust, etc. Snow tires are common as well.

14K for a new one if I'm correct, lower for a used one. hope i helped, ford or die

my 99 dodge dakota , 4x4, 5 spd, 318 V8, maxis bighorn studs, great winter truck and with my cold air intake, chip, throttle body spacer, and dual exhaust , i pull bout 17 in town and 19-20 on highway.

the other truck just my stock ( basically) 4x4 cummins 2500, just my work truck , doesnt c alot of driving in winter .

lol cold air intakes do nothing. Its been proven time and time again the only thing they do is possibly reduce horsepower. If you want real forced induction, the only options are turbocharging or supercharging.

False. They provide horsepower gains. Results are best seen at WOT, if you even know what that means without googling it.

Also, once converting your intake to cold air versus untreated air, you gain HP because when cold, air is more dense, which means it can take more in and pack more into the cylinder, which is in turn pushed out more forcefully than air provided by a stock intake since there is a higher capacity with it being cold. Pushed out more forcefully = more horsepower (and a louder exhaust, which is one side-effect)

cold air intakes are a waste of money on most vehicles. the only benefit you get from them is having a bigger filter that clogs up slower.
