Me and a few of my friends went on our first roadtrip together before we started our freshman year of college. Went camping for a week in Mackinac Michigan.
Funnest thing was cruising real slow around the campground during sunset with my friends chilling sitting in the trunk playing guitar and just hanging out the windows waving at and highfiving people and stuff.
It was during winter in a very mountainous country (Lesotho). The base of the slope was at an altitude of around 3020 meters, with about 200 vertical meters more to the top. This meant low temperatures... I'd say between 0ºC - 15ºC during the day. We had one night where it supposedly got down to -14ºC while I was there.
If you look at the middle picture you can see the snow cannons. They have a very good snowmaking setup and were able to make snow several times a week during peak season. Although it was sunny with not a single cloud visible for the first three weeks I worked there, the snow didn't melt fast at all.
It also snowed on occasion, although this winter was one of their driest for a long time and I saw less than 10cm of natural snowfall during my six week stay.
So really it wasn't the biggest problem. During the last week or two, bare patches did start to become visible, and by the last week the park itself was a dirty line of grass and mud.
i spent the first part of the summer in hawaii for a field school and did a lot of hiking, longboarding, cliff jumping, ect. and then i got to tour the on3p factory when i went through portland, blew more than my mind.
this is some of the highlights
