What to get after a dslr.

Just wondering what to get after a dslr. What lens or mount etc

Assuming your shooting video, stabilization. Glidecam, tripod, shoulder rig. Something that will actually take the shake out of the camera.

what lenses do you have?
do you own a tripod?
how fast/large are you memory cards?
how many batteries do you have?

things like that.

Lets say you bought a t4i with the kit lens? Youll want

-2 16gb (or bigger) class 10 fancy cards
-an extra battery or so,
-a decent tripod ( i got a manfrotto 701 with old legs)
-a decent mic (rode makes nice mics)
-A stabilizer (homemade fig rig is easy and effective)

as far as lenses its up to you, buying cheap is frowned upon, but you gotta do what you gotta do. Popular lenses include...

-Canon 50mm 1.8
-Rokinon 8mm fish
-Tokina 11-16 wide
-tamron 17-50
-canon 70-200 f.4

hope that helps a bit, just a couple things that are nice to have to get going. It will take awhile to build up your bag, but variety is nice nawmean?

Agreed on the "cheap being frowned upon." I actually googled "how to afford camera gear" and found an article that backed up my philosophy of "the cheap man buys twice." If you go cheap on something, like stabilization, but you really wanted the glidecam. You'll drop $100-200, but still want the glidecam. You'll be out $600-700 rather than $500.

Camera gear is an investment. You'll have this stuff for years and years, so its worth putting down a little extra. It'll be be worth it when peoples jaws drop at your work.
