Skis For Colorado?

So I've moved to school in Colorado from Pennsylvania. My only pair of skis are my Nordica Ace of Spades.. I'm looking almost for a one quiver ski. I've never done any skiing out west either, so what are your suggestions? I'm pretty interested in the Soul Rider, and the J-mos. I'd like it to be somewhat flexy as well. Thanks.

I would say the blend, soul riders, or jmos. Blend will be the softest of the three but with the least amount of rocker. The soul rider I hear is a great allmountain ski and kills it in the pow to, and from what I've seen in edits they slay in the park. The same with j-mos to. The jmos with have the most rocker I'm pretty sure and be the stiffest, I could be wrong though about the flex. My friend used them for two season as an allmountain and pow ski and said it was the best ski he has ever been on, and he's been on ALOT of skis. If you are really light framed guy I would go blend. But if not, I'd say get soul rider or jmo. Personally I'd get the jmo. I've seen them in person and they are really made burly skis.

^jmos are a great ski, but definetly on the stiffer side, especially compared to the blend or SFB.

For my Colorado one ski quiver I went with jmos. I was stuck between the blend, jmo, and soul rider too. I'm a bigger guy (5'9 180) so I concluded the blends would just be too soft for me- plus they chatter at high speed. In CO unless you hit the San Juan's and Steamboat there's never a ton of powder- soft snow, but not knee- deep most of the time. Plus i like to bomb down from time to time.So for me a stiffer ski will be better everywhere else, and on jumps. Everyone seems to love ON3P, and their durability is fantastic. Plus they are a smaller American company and I'd prefer to spend my money with a company like that.

The nordica soul rider was a close second though. Very similar to jmo, maybe a bit softer I think?

There's also cost to consider. All are pretty much the same, I got last years so got a good deal. The 2013 blend (same as 14) is a lot less expensive. I think on evo it was like $370 a few days ago. Good if you do mostly park, maybe trees and are light weight

If you want a one ski quiver thats soft and buttery, give the Fatypus L toro a look. Plus you'd be supporting a colorado company.

I was in colorado last year, I had a very good time on Line Blends. I had wider skis, but the blends more than held their own. In fact, I found myself using the blends way more than my wider skis, but eagle county was below average in snowfall. still an average year, 100mm underfoot is amazing one ski quiver for most of colorado. Find your niche around 100-110mm....

Since you like something flexy, i would stay away from j mo or pbj. they're fun an all, but built like cruise missiles. not nearly as flexy as blends.

I rode J-mo's all last season. Great ski for a quiver killer. If your skiing steamboat a lot though id probably go a little wider. The Jefferey is a great ski with a little more meat at the waist for some deeper days.

Yup! I do maybe 1-3 park laps if I'm feeling like it that day. The Jeffrey is just so perfect and so fun outside of the park. You get creative on natural features with them. They throw sideways so well too.

Shit, can't wait to ski them again!

Yup my fiance is the new head women's basketball coach. Im not a student but we live in Holland west in employee housing.

We will have to do some shredding this winter. Funny, I worked at wisp for years, skied 7 a lot. We probably know a lot of the same ppls.
